"Someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful, reciprocal arrangement."
-The Catcher in the Rye
Hello! My name is Maddie Hutchinson, and I am a proud Mira Costa alum. In 2009, I graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Cinema Studies with emphasis on Screenwriting and Cinematography. I remain an avid supporter of the Visual and Performing Arts, working on the shows here at Costa and acting as Faculty Advisor for our Comedy Sportz High School League team. If there’s one thing that drains my bank account quickly without fail, it’s theatre tickets!
I had the honor of student teaching English and Drama on campus while obtaining my Masters in Education in 2015. To my utter delight, I was offered a job at the end of that experience! The diverse talents and strengths I encounter within the student body consistently inspire me and serve as irrefutable proof that I have chosen the right profession. For that, I am endlessly thankful.
As an educator, my goals are not only to teach the standards and skills set forth by California, but also instill a love of learning and passion for self-discovery within my students. I aim to create strong speakers, creative thinkers, comfortable collaborators, confident sharers, and empathetic human beings. Above all else, I believe in the power of laughter, kindness, and imagination.
I am looking forward to a fun, engaging, and challenging year!
