Girls Golf Tryouts

Hello Mira Costa Girls Golf,

 

We wanted to articulate things that are going on and game plans for next year. We are excited about the upcoming year and we are planning on our continued growth and success. We have a fabulous returning team and are excited about the quality new talent we see coming up through the ranks. We will be conducting tryouts over the last week of summer to determine the Varsity and JV teams. Based on the size of the team we anticipate having a traveling and non-traveling part at both levels.

Skill levels will be determined using a combination of the handicap system, playing ability during tryouts, the knowledge of the coaching staff, and the returning players experience level. Be sure to use your time to prepare over summer and be ready to perform at tryouts.

 

We will be doing playing tryouts and they will be on AUG.20-22. Varsity tryouts will consist of playing Aug. 20 at the Lakes, on the 21st we will play 18 holes at Chester, and 22nd we will play 18 holes at Lakewood. All girls will be paying their own greens fees on the tryout days and I will get back to you later on the times. With the level of returning experience and quality of our varsity team the anticipated level for the top 7 players is about a 10 handicap. “This means that the top varsity girls should have the ability to shoot in the 70’s on a par 72 course.” The JV girls will play at the Lakes during these three days also.

 

All girls interested in tryouts (returning and new players) will need to have their completed Athletic packets into the school by July 25th so they are cleared to compete in tryouts. This is a liability issue that is not negotiable, and without it complete we will send girls home after getting their contact information.
