STUDENT INFO
· TODAY: Mira Costa Music Department will host 40 high school students from China. Sixth period, these students will be presenting a performance in the small theater. We are hoping to have Costa students observe their performance. Please come to the small theater 6th period TODAY!
· The Neptunian Woman’s Club Art and Photo Contest is coming to a close. Deadline to turn in entries is Friday, Feb. 10 by 3 pm. Please turn in submissions to Ms. Gardner in the Admin Office. Complete rules are on entry forms in the office, or can be found on the Neptunian Woman’s website: www.neptunians.org. Entry forms are available in the office or from your Art or Photo teacher. Deadline to turn in entries to Ms. Gardner is Friday, Feb. 10.
· Comedy Sportz Match THIS Friday, Feb. 3! Come on down to see the new players and returning players. Cost is $5 at the door at 7 pm in the Small Theater.

· Calling all artists for the “Why I © MB” City Hall Art Exhibition! The MB Parks and Rec Department’s Cultural Arts Division is looking for artists of all ages to submit their entries for the 2017 “Why I © MB” art exhibition. Theme: Original artwork that depicts what people love about MB. Exhibition Dates: Feb. 21 through Mar. 16, 2017. Exhibition Location: Manhattan Beach City Hall, 1400 Highland Ave., MB, CA 90266. · TODAY is the last day to see The Spring Photography Art Show during lunch in the Art Gallery, Room 60. Don’t miss these wonderful nature photographs and creative art drawn with light!

· AP Students: Did you miss registering for the AP exams? There will be late registration TODAY at lunch only at the student store. New This Year: Online registration also is available NOW. Go to the ASB webstore on the MCHS website. A credit card is required for online registration. Either way, a late fee of $15 for each exam will be charged.

· If you need a mid-year report sent to your colleges, please obtain the new “Mid-Year Report” form from your counselor or on the CCC website under “Senior To-Do’s”. Fill out the form and return back to your counselor by Feb. 3.
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Interested in Chemistry? Come check out Mira Costa Chemistry Club every Friday in Mr. Nodado’s Room 342. For all AP Chemistry students, we will also be hosting Chemistry Olympiad – great preparation for the AP Chemistry Exam!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

· Career Speaker Series Professionals in various industries will visit the CCC to speak about their careers and the path they took to get there. This is a great opportunity to learn about different careers and the steps you need to take to gain opportunities for internships and to land your dream job. Please sign-up on Naviance or in the CCC. · El Camino Assessment Testing at MCHS – Monday, Feb. 6 at 8am-10:30am in Room 241. For students planning to attend El Camino College in the fall, El Camino proctors will be on campus to offer one session of assessment testing. You must have an El Camino College student ID number to take the test. We highly encourage students to study for the test beforehand. The ECC testing office has resource guides online, or pick up a copy in the CCC. *Please sign-up on Naviance, seating is limited. If you can’t attend this on-campus testing session, you may complete your assessment testing at the El Camino College Assessment Center located in the Student Services Center on the ECC Campus.
· Featured Program: University of Pennsylvania Engineering Summer Academy – Penn Engineering offers a unique program for a selective group of high school students (rising 10th -12th graders) to experience rigorous and challenging college-level coursework. The three-week Engineering Summer Academy at Penn combines sophisticated theory with hands-on practical experience in cutting-edge technologies. Students can earn college credit in one of the six programs: Biotechnology, Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Complex Networks, Nanotechnology, and Robotics.
