STUDENT INFO
· PSAT rosters are posted at admin building and online. Students must be in their testing room ready for the test to begin promptly at 7am.
· It’s time for the annual PTSA Reflections Art Contest. Contest rules and forms are in the Admin Office or available from your Visual and Performing Arts teacher. Submit any art entry to Ms. Gardner in the Admin Office. Deadline is Thursday, Nov. 10. PTSA will pick up entries on Monday, Nov. 14.
· Senior Shirts are back! Come by the Student Store at lunch or nutrition and pick one up! We have all sizes and they are only $10!
· Are you creative? How about courageous? Apply for the 2016 Clinton Family Social Inclusion Grant for up to $5,000. In order to qualify, your proposal must inspire productive and honest dialogues about race and other distinguishing characteristics that should be celebrated, not hated. The deadline has been extended to October 21, so don’t miss this excellent opportunity! Grant winners will be notified by mid-November. · Shady People Have Returned! And taken over the Art Gallery! Come check out awesome portraits done by Art 1 classes. They will be on display this whole week at lunch in Room 60.
· October is Bullying Prevention Month. Please join the HEART program in spreading Random Acts of Kindness this week on Monday, Thursday and Friday during homeroom all across MCHS!
· NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE? The next Lunches with Love delivery is Sun, Oct 23. We feed the homeless on Skid Row with your bagged lunches. We are also collecting old backpacks. CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Come to Children’s Hospital Club every Monday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 22. All are welcome.
· Black Scholars Union meets every Thursday in Room 74 at lunch. We have several new initiatives for this year that we would love for you to be a part of. All new members are welcome!
· Young Democrats Club will be holding a voter registration drive on Wednesday the 19th. Please know your driver license number or the last four digits of your social security number. You can pre-register even if you’re 16!
· Did you come from another school district? Bring your lunch & come to Ambassador Club TODAY at lunch in room 21 to meet other students and become better acquainted with the school. Let’s have a great year!
· Calling all Young Deplorables! Do you believe in freedom, the Constitution, individual liberties and lower taxes? If so, come to the Young Republicans Club on Tuesday in Mrs. Vaughan’s Room #207 at lunch.
· Come to Jewish Cultural Club Tuesdays at lunch in Room 200 for great discussions!
· Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.

The CCC is now open from 8am until 7pm. We hope you’ll take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services!
* How to Write a Powerful Essay – 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, 10/18. Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign-up.
*FAFSA Information Session – 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, 10/25. Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign-up.
*College Application Workshop Wednesdays from 2:00-7:00pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.
*Ninth Grade Planning Meetings – 6-7pm on multiple dates to accommodate small groups: 10/20, 27; 11/1, 9, 15; 12/1, 5, 14. 9th grade planning, 4-year planning graduation requirements, A-G College entrance requirements, academic goals, extracurricular activities, how to stay in touch. · SCROC is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, Nov. 14. Sign up in the Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.
· Test Prep Resources:
o Revolution Prep is offering free online practice tests. Sign up using this link: https://www.revolutionprep.com/jk-practice-test. Download practice tests and take them in the comfort of your own home.
o PJ Test Prep is offering Free SAT/ACT Tests on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 4 starting at 10:00am. Take the test and return after a short break to get the results, and learn free test strategy tips. Location for both dates is the Holiday Inn Express, Hermosa Beach. RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp.
