Today is SUPER STAMPEDE Day!

·        It’s time for the annual PTSA Reflections Art Contest. Contest rules and forms are in the Admin Office or available from your Visual and Performing Arts teacher. Submit any art entry to Ms. Gardner in the Admin Office. Deadline is Thursday, Nov. 10. PTSA will pick up entries on Monday, Nov. 14.

·        Senior Shirts are back! Come by the Student Store at lunch or nutrition and pick one up! We have all sizes and they are only $10!

·        Are you creative? How about courageous? Apply for the 2016 Clinton Family Social Inclusion Grant for up to $5,000. In order to qualify, your proposal must inspire productive and honest dialogues about race and other distinguishing characteristics that should be celebrated, not hated. The deadline has been extended to October 21, so don’t miss this excellent opportunity! Grant winners will be notified by mid-November. ·        Want to become a politically active young adult? Want to get your presidential candidate into office? Or maybe just help change the community? Then come and register to vote at the LA Youth Vote table this week in the main quad at lunch. Even if you’re only 16 or 17, you may still pre-register!

·        October is Bullying Prevention Month. Please join the HEART program in spreading Random Acts of Kindness this week on Monday, Thursday and Friday during homeroom all across MCHS!

·         Water Polo: Come to the pool TODAY & Saturday for the 47th Annual Henry Stuart Tournament! All the schools from the South Bay plus more are playing. Friday games start at 3pm, Mustangs plays Long Beach Milliken at 4pm & Costa Mesa at 6pm. The “World Famous Snack Shack” will be open at 2pm on Friday, plus we have our local favorite Manhattan Pizzeria selling slices for $4! Costa still undefeated in Bay League. Come show your MUSTANG LOVE & VOICES!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·         Calling all Young Deplorables! Do you believe in freedom, the Constitution, individual liberties and lower taxes? If so, come to the Young Republicans Club on Tuesday in Mrs. Vaughan’s Room #207 at lunch.

·         Reminder: Ping Pong Club meets every Friday (TODAY) at lunch in the Fisher Gym.

·         If you have an interest in film-making, movies or television, come to Cinema Club TODAY at lunch. Located in Room 108 every Friday.

·         Come to Jewish Cultural Club Tuesdays at lunch in Room 200 for great discussions!

·         Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.

·         Are you a girl interested in pursuing a career in the STEM field? If so, come to Room 350 at lunch on Friday.

·         College Visits – Please sign up on Naviance If visit is during class, please ask your teacher for permission to attend.

·         CCC Updates

The CCC is now open from 8am until 7pm. We hope you’ll take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services!

* How to Write a Powerful Essay – 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, 10/18. Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign-up.

*FAFSA Information Session – 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, 10/25.  Go to the CCC Calendar on the MCHS website to sign-up.

*College Application Workshop Wednesdays from 2:00-7:00pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.

*Ninth Grade Planning Meetings  – 6-7pm on multiple dates to accommodate small groups: 10/20, 27; 11/1, 9, 15; 12/1, 5, 14.  9th grade planning, 4-year planning graduation requirements, A-G College entrance requirements, academic goals, extracurricular activities, how to stay in touch. ·         SCROC is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, Nov. 14. Sign up in the Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.

·            Test Prep Resources:

o  Revolution Prep is offering free online practice tests. Sign up using this link: https://www.revolutionprep.com/jk-practice-test. Download practice tests and take them in the comfort of your own home.

o  PJ Test Prep is offering Free SAT/ACT Tests on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 4 starting at 10:00am. Take the test and return after a short break to get the results, and learn free test strategy tips. Location for both dates is the Holiday Inn Express, Hermosa Beach. RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp.
