· Are you interested in going into an engineering field? Get experience in mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering by joining the Solar Cup team. Help build a solar powered boat and race it in the Solar Cup. Come to an informational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 13 at lunch in Room 242, or see Mr. Oystrick.
· Homecoming Dance Tickets are on sale now at the Student Store. Ticket prices go up Tuesday, Oct. 11. Prices: with ASB Marker – single $17, couple, $30; without ASB Marker – single $19, couple $34. Bring ID card to buy tickets.
· Are you creative? How about courageous? Apply for the 2016 Clinton Family Social Inclusion Grant for up to $5,000. In order to qualify, your proposal must inspire productive and honest dialogues about race and other distinguishing characteristics that should be celebrated, not hated. The deadline has been extended to October 21, so don’t miss this excellent opportunity! Grant winners will be notified by mid-November. · If your English teacher required you to maintain a portfolio last year and you have any interest in keeping it, please pick it up from your previous teacher THIS WEEK. Any unclaimed portfolios will be recycled next week.

· Join the Mira Costa Girls’ Volleyball team Wednesday, Oct. 12 as they take on Mater Dei at Mira Costa. FS/JV/V at 4:30/5:30/6:30. It’s their “Dig Pink!” event, where the girls will join forces with volleyball teams across the country to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer. All proceeds will go to the Side-Out Foundation. We will have raffle tickets, silent auction items and other ways to make donations. Wear something pink and come out to cheer the girls on! Think Pink!

· Need a safe and sane environment to hang out in? Come to Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23 Thursdays at lunch for Gender & Sexuality Alliance.
· Wanna learn how to code and create awesome games with friends? Come check out Python Gaming and Coding Club! Our first informational meeting is TODAY during lunch in Room 52.
· Black Scholars Union meets every Thursday in Room 74 at lunch. We have several new initiatives for this year that we would love for you to be a part of. All new members are welcome!
· Did you come from another school district? Bring your lunch and come to Ambassador Club TODAY at lunch in Room 21 to meet other students and become better acquainted with the school. Let’s have a great year!
· Come to Reflections on Mondays in Room 207! We publish your photography and poetry! Looks great on college apps!
· Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.

*College Application Workshop Wednesdays from 2:00-7:00pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.
*Ninth Grade Planning Meetings – 6-7pm on multiple dates to accommodate small groups: 10/10, 20, 27; 11/1, 9, 15; 12/1, 5, 14. 9th grade planning, 4-year planning graduation requirements, A-G College entrance requirements, academic goals, extracurricular activities, how to stay in touch. · SCROC is now enrolling for its 9-week courses. Classes begin Monday, Nov. 14. Sign up in the Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.
