STUDENT INFO           

·        Attention Students! Homecoming Dance tickets are available to purchase starting TODAY at the Student Store!

·        Comedy Sportz Match this Friday against El Segundo! It’s in the small theater at 7 pm!

·        Are you creative? How about courageous? Apply for the 2016 Clinton Family Social Inclusion Grant for up to $5,000. In order to qualify, your proposal must inspire productive and honest dialogues about race and other distinguishing characteristics that should be celebrated, not hated. The deadline has been extended to October 21, so don’t miss this excellent opportunity! Grant winners will be notified by mid-November. ·        Hey Mustangs! The Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk is coming up, and we need your help! Make sure to go to skechersfriendshipwalk.com to register and join the MCHS walk team, or come to Room 115 on Thursday 10/6 to sign up!

·        It’s time for our California Scholarship Federation membership drive. If you are a Sophomore, Junior or Senior who had excellent grades in June, you may be eligible. The membership drive continues through Oct. 7.  Applications can be found in Room 243. If you don’t know what CSF is, then come to lab Room 243 in the science building at snack or lunch during the two-week membership drive to get more information. Sorry, freshmen will not be eligible until they have received their first semester high school grades.

 

SPORTS

·         Boys’ Indoor Volleyball tryouts will be held Oct. 13 in the gym from 4 to 5:30 pm for Freshmen and new players, and from 5 to 6:30 pm for returning indoor players.

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·         Come to Pink Ribbon Club on Thursdays in Room 78.

·         Black Scholars Union meets every Thursday in Room 74 at lunch. We have several new initiatives for this year that we would love for you to be a part of. All new members are welcome!

·         Come to the second Mustangs4Change meeting this Friday at lunch in Room 248 to learn about how you can help refugees in Chad.

·         Come to American Sign Language (ASL) Club this Thursday, Oct. 6 in Room 232 in the Math & Science building.

·         Drama Club every Wednesday in the Drama Room/Room 1. Come to learn all about what is going on in Costa’s Drama/Tech Department.

·         Come to Lend a Hand Club on Fridays in Room 72 at lunch and find out when we’re taking our next trip to Skid Row to hand out sandwiches!

·         Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.

·         Wanna learn how to code and create awesome games with friends? Come check out Python Gaming and Coding Club! Our first informational meeting is Monday, Oct. 10 during lunch in Room 52.

·         Come to Reflections on Mondays in Room 207. We publish your poetry and photography.

·         Headstrong Club meets every Tuesday at lunch in Room 21! Come help us raise awareness for Mental Health, get involved in creating Costa’s stress plan, and meet supportive and amazing people!

CCC Updates

*The CCC is now open from 8am until 7pm. We hope you’ll take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services!

*College Application Workshop Wednesdays from 2:00-7:00pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and  personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.
