· Come with us and take a beautiful tour through New York City during Spring Break! Stay in Manhattan and visit the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial, attend a workshop at the Guggenheim designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA and see a Broadway show! See the many neighborhoods and culture of bustling New York City! See Ms. Dixon in Room 109 and have your parents come to a meeting September 27 at 6:30 pm in Room 109!
· South Africa Trip – Spring Break 2018: For details on this amazing trip, see Mr. Cox in Room 410 during lunch or PM office hours this Wednesday, Sept. 21. Email [email protected] if you are unable to attend.
· HEART will begin this week on Wednesday, Sept. 21, during morning office hours, 9:27 am – 10:27 am in Room 74. Bring your friends. We will plan for the MBMS HEART assembly. Open to all Mustangs!
· Sign ups for the Long Form Improv Show are in the Drama Room now! Also, before auditions, you have to sign up for one of the workshops. Audition packets were due on 9/16 and auditions are Wednesday, 9/21.
· First Art Show of the year! AP Studio Art presents: The Refrigerator Door. The show will be open in the Gallery (Room 60) at lunch from Sept. 15 – 30.
· Are you creative? How about courageous? Apply for the 2016 Clinton Family Social Inclusion Grant for up to $5,000. In order to qualify, your proposal must inspire productive and honest dialogues about race and other distinguishing characteristics that should be celebrated, not hated. · Lost your ID already? On Monday, 9/26, bring $10 to Mrs. Cessor in the Student Store. Then take your receipt to the Auditorium for Make-up Picture Day to have your ID reissued. (Note: You do not need to retake your photo.)
· Make-Up Picture Day Monday, 9/26 in the Auditorium. Photo IDs will be available for students who never received one.
· Need Community Service Hours? The next Lunches with Love delivery is Sunday, Sept. 25. We feed the homeless on Skid Row with your bagged lunches. We are also collecting old backpacks. Please see attached flyer for details and like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/luncheswithlovemb.
· Interested in going to London for Spring Break? See Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court, the bloody tower of London, Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. Go to a Premiere League Football Match. Visit ancient Roman ruins. See major shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, the London Philharmonic at the Royal Albert Hall and more! Airfare, accommodations, all tours, transfers and transportation included for only $3,700! CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Attention all new kids: Bring your lunch and come to Ambassador Club TODAY at lunch in Room 21 to meet new people and become better acquainted with the school.
· Latino Scholars Union meets every Tuesday in Room 73. Come and join us tomorrow during lunch! Everyone is welcome!
· If you would like to join the Lunches with Love Club, please come to Room 62 on Tuesday at Nutrition. It is a mandatory meeting, and lots of info will be given out regarding the club’s plans for this year.
· Need a safe and sane environment to hang out in? Come to Gay-Straight Alliance, Thursday at lunch in Room 23, for discussion on the LGTBD and community and possible community service opportunities.
· Nowhere to eat lunch on Wednesdays? Come to Room 1/Drama Room for Drama Club. Learn all about the upcoming events in the Drama/Tech Department!
· Want to laugh your socks off? Then come on down to Improv Club during lunch on Tuesdays in the Drama Room!
· Do you like ice skating, sweeping stuff with brooms and throwing rocks? Then the AP Varsity Curling Honors is right for you! Come to Mr. Kofahl’s Room 221 on Fridays.
· Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.
· If you love you some table tennis or are interested in learning the game, come to the first meeting of the Pong Club in the Fisher Gym Friday, Sept. 23 at lunch.
· Want to be on Comedy Sportz? Want to do competitive improv? Then try out for Comedy Sportz this Tuesday, Sept. 20. Sign-ups are in the Drama Room 1, and audition packets are due TODAY!
· Interested in math? Want to expand your knowledge beyond the classroom? Come to Math Club every Tuesday in Room 131! All grades welcome!
· Love science? Join Science Olympiad and try out for our official team to represent Costa at the annual nationwide Science Olympiad competition. We meet every Wednesday starting Sept. 21 in Ms. Bledsoe’s Room 352. See you there!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
PSAT REGISTRATION – Online registration is now open to MCHS Juniors and Sophomores for the October 19 PSAT. The test will begin at 7:00 am, and because this is a double late start date students taking the test will not have to miss class. To register, please go the ASB webstore on the MCHS website (click on Store and choose ASB Webstore). Cost is $25. Any questions, please contact the CCC.

CCC Updates
The CCC will now be open from 8 am until 7 pm. We hope you can take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services!
*College Application Workshop Wednesdays – 9/14 & 9/21, from 2:00-7:00 pm. Walk in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.
*Senior Information Session Mondays – 9/19 TONIGHT, 9/26 at 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the CCC. Sign up on the CCC Calendar webpage or in the CCC.
*Financial Aid Night – September 20 from 7-8 pm in the auditorium
