STUDENT INFO
· Students: Not sure if you bought an ASB Marker? Please check your Costa ID against the list posted on the school website to make sure that your ID Card is correct. ASB Marker purchasers without the ASB Mark on their ID will not receive free entry to upcoming games. If your ID is not correct please see Mrs. Cessor in the Finance Office at the Student Store.
· Start the school year off with new socks! Costa's own CIF winning wrestling team has partnered with the famous "Legends" brand socks to bring you customized Mira Costa designs. These exclusive designs are only available here! http://www.miracostawrestling.com/#!mcsocks/hpoj3 We are offering 5 different designs priced at $16 a pair or 2 pairs for $30. Socks will be sold in front of the wrestling gym (at the entrance to the pool), Tuesday thru Friday, from 2 PM to 3:30 PM. Sales will begin September 6 and continue through the month. Freshmen who are interested in ASB, come to one of the three information meetings in Room 41 at lunch on Friday Sept. 9, Monday Sept. 12 and Tuesday Sept. 13.

· If you have never eaten at Big Wok or Amigos Tacos or if you don’t know your way around town…then you are probably new to our school district and we would love to meet you! Please come to the Ambassador Club this Wednesday in Room 21 at lunch TODAY to hang out and become acquainted with Costa and MB. We will have free food and make sure you have an awesome year!

· Are you creative? How about courageous? Apply for the 2016 Clinton Family Social Inclusion Grant for up to $5,000. In order to qualify, your proposal must inspire productive and honest dialogues about race and other distinguishing characteristics that should be celebrated, not hated. CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· Nothing to do on Wednesdays during lunch? Come to Drama Club in Room 1 to learn about all the upcoming events in the Drama Department.
· Mental Health Awareness Club: Come to Room 21 Tuesdays to learn about mental health and, more importantly, how to spread awareness about these struggles.
SPORTS
· Please release the following teams this week:
o Thursday, 9/8 – Football JV at 1 pm; Boys’ Water Polo JV & F/S at 1:15 pm; Cross Country at 1:20 pm.
o Friday, 9/9 – Girls’ Tennis Varsity at 11:45 am.
· Come try out for MAC Junior Rowing starting Sep. 12! Get on the water and join over 100 other LA area high school students on your way to fun, fitness and competitive success in this challenging and exciting sport! Go to www.macrowing.org for more info!
· Girls Lacrosse is having tryouts on Tuesday, 9/13 and Wednesday, 9/14 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Meet at the bleachers. You must have a mouthguard to participate. Please bring lacrosse stick, goggles, running shoes and mouth guard. No experience needed.
· Come try out for Girls’ Basketball TONIGHT at 5:30 pm at MBMS!
· Boys’ Basketball tryouts for all 9th – 11th graders will be Thursday Sept. 8 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Manhattan Beach Middle School. 12th graders, please attend the Varsity workout from 4:30 – 6:00 pm at MBMS on September 6 or 8. · Class of 2017! Remember to buy your senior shirts in the student store, and make sure to wear them this Friday, 9/9.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
PSAT REGISTRATION – Online registration is now open to MCHS Juniors and Sophomores for the October 19 PSAT. The test will begin at 7:00 am, and because this is a double late start date students taking the test will not have to miss class. To register, please go the ASB webstore on the MCHS website (click on Store and choose ASB Webstore). Cost is $25. Any questions, please contact the CCC.

CCC Updates
The CCC will now be open from 8 am until 7 pm. We hope you can take advantage of the extra hours and our extended services!
*College Application Workshop Wednesdays – 9/7, 9/14/ 9/21, from 2:00-7:00 pm. Walk-in and work on your college applications and personal statements with support from a CCC counselor. Bring a device or reserve one in the CCC.
*Senior Information Session Mondays – 9/12, 9/19, 9/26 at 5:30 – 6:30 pm in the CCC. Sign up on the CCC Calendar webpage or in the CCC.
*ACT vs SAT Information Session – Tuesday, 9/13 at 5:30 – 6:30pm in the CCC. Sign up on the CCC Calendar webpage or in the CCC.
