STUDENT INFO
· Attention Freshmen taking AP Euro next year: Mandatory meeting Friday, June 3 at lunch in Ms. Choi’s Room 223 to discuss summer homework and course details.
· Head on over to Room 60 TODAY through June 7 to see the AP art classes’ final show! The gallery will be open all week, and there will be a reception (with food) Thursday the 2nd from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Come support the artists!
· MBX is offering online remediation classes for students who would like to make up a D or F on their transcripts for one or more courses. Please visit the MBX Foundation website or see your counselor for more details.
· STUDENTS & FACULTY: If you’d like to participate in the upcoming UCLA Blood Drive, be sure to stop by Room 40/41 to sign up. The drive will take place on June 8.
· Mandatory meeting for all students taking AP Studio Art next year – Thursday, June 2 at lunch in Room 62.
· If you are interested in going to the Galapagos and Ecuador for Spring Break 2017, please attend a parent meeting on Thursday, June 2 in Mr. Smith’s Room (342 Math and Science). For more information, come to Room 342 during nutrition this week.
SENIORS
· Don’t forget to purchase your GRAD Nite tickets by June 10! You won’t want to miss this amazing night: Get your ticket before it sells out!
SPORTS
· Boys Basketball tryouts will be Thursday, June 2 from 3:30 to 5 pm. All players interested in participating next year are encouraged to attend. Next year’s seniors and anyone interested in trying out for Varsity, please email Coach Amaral directly at [email protected].
· Come out and watch the Mira Costa hockey team in the championship game this Thursday June 2 at 6:40 pm. The game is at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, and admission is FREE!
CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
· The Library Club invites all interested students to join us for the final monthly “Somewhat Virtual Book Club” meeting with library clubs from around the country at 3 pm TODAY. The session topic is “bring your own book.” Bring a favorite book to share and recommend to other attendees.
· Come to Drama Club TODAY in Room 1 at lunch!
· Not going to prom? Come support Mira Costa Key Club at our ice skating social to raise money to stop Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus. It will be held at the Toyota Sports Center from 7:45 – 9:15 pm on June 4. Cost is $10 at the door! Invite your friends and family.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· COLLEGE APPLICATION SUMMER PREP SERIES – Get a jump on the process over the summer.
w Choosing a Major on Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00 pm. One of the most common reasons students consider applying to a certain college is because it has a major that they are interested in. We’ll discuss important items to consider when selecting a major as well as what to look for in a school. In addition we talk about some common mistakes and misconceptions that students make when considering a major. Please sign up on Naviance.

w What are colleges looking for in applicants? Find out from two college admissions representatives on Tuesday, June 7 at 2:00 pm in the CCC. An overview on what colleges want to see from students and components of a strong application including a brief review of what to include on the essay. Parents are welcome to attend. w Learn how to maximize your summer, and make college applications stress-free! On June 9 at 2:00 pm. We will review the general College Application timeline and then delve into what you should focus on each month. We will cover strategies that can help you to stay organized, and will practice using Naviance to create and evaluate your College List. Parents are welcome to attend. · El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you through the month of May on Fridays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
