STUDENT INFO
· STUDENTS & FACULTY: If you’d like to participate in the upcoming UCLA Blood Drive, be sure to stop by Room 40/41 to sign up. The drive will take place on June 8.
· Need to improve your reading and writing skills? Need help with summer reading? Sign up for the summer school class “Summer Reading: A Study of the Selected Literature.” It is only 3 weeks. Tuesday/Thursday 4:00 – 6:00 pm. The course is designed to guide you through the summer reading and hone your skills.
· Spain 2017 meeting Room 70 on Tuesday at lunch! Only a few more days to sign up before price increases, so come by for more info!
· Mandatory meeting for all students taking AP Studio Art next year – Thursday, June 2 at lunch in Room 62.
· Last day! Art & Ceramics present their 2016 Collaborative Art Show “Night,” displaying a mix of sculpture installation & digital media! Shows are in Room 60 at lunch TODAY.

· Attention students & staff: Please don’t forget to vote TODAY during 2nd period. All grade levels must vote: seniors for prom court; juniors for prom court & representatives; sophomores for representative; freshmen for representative.
· TODAY is the absolute last day to turn in off-campus prom forms. Buy prom tickets during lunch or TODAY after school at the student store or online. TODAY is the last day to buy prom tickets with cash or check. You can buy tickets next Tuesday only if you are paying with cash.
· TODAY is the last day to turn in your submission for the 2016-2017 Student Planner cover contest! See website News section for details!
· If you are interested in going to the Galapagos and Ecuador for Spring Break 2017, please attend a parent meeting on Thursday, June 2 in Mr. Smith’s Room (342 Math and Science). For more information, come to Room 342 during nutrition this week.
SPORTS
· Mira Costa Hockey: Late in the semifinal game, Bryce Tournat scored 3 goals in a 2 minute span to help the Mustangs beat Manhattan Beach by a score of 5-1 on Monday night. Jack St. Ivany and Wyatt Light had a goal each, helping the team advance to the finals. Come out and cheer the team on in the Championship game on Thursday, June 2 at 6:40 pm at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo as they take on Beverly Hills.
· Boys Basketball tryouts will be Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2 from 3:30 to 5 pm. All players interested in participating next year are encouraged to attend. Next year’s seniors and anyone interested in trying out for Varsity, please email Coach Amaral directly at [email protected].

· *SENIORS*If you haven’t done so, please complete the following clearance steps:
w If you are planning to continue your education (4 year, Community College or Trade School), please complete the following steps and bring copies to the CCC: 1. Completed Naviance Senior Survey, 2. Updated Naviance college admissions results, 3. Acceptance letter from the school you will attend. This process will ensure your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

w If you are planning to work, take a gap year or travel, please do the following: 1. Complete the Naviance Senior Survey and bring a copy to the CCC, 2. Stop in the CCC to let us know your plans.
· El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you through the month of May on Fridays (TODAY) from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
· COLLEGE APPLICATION SUMMER PREP SERIES – Get a jump on the process over the summer.
w Choosing a Major on Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00 pm. One of the most common reasons students consider applying to a certain college is because it has a major that they are interested in. We’ll discuss important items to consider when selecting a major as well as what to look for in a school. w Learn how to maximize your summer, and make college applications stress-free! On June 9 at 2:00 pm. We will review the general College Application timeline and then delve into what you should focus on each month. We will cover strategies that can help you to stay organized, and will practice using Naviance to create and evaluate your College List. Parents are welcome to attend. · EL CAMINO START PROGRAM – El Camino College is offering a free STEM and robotics program this summer. In the STEM Training and Robotics Technology (START) program, students build a VEX robot and three electric projects, learn STEM career pathways, and go on three field trips. No prerequisite courses or prior technical experience required to apply. The program runs July 5 to July 28, Monday through Friday. Apply online: www.elcamino.edu/academics/indtech/start.
