STUDENT INFO

· Friday is the last day to turn in your submission for the 2016-2017 Student Planner cover contest! See website News section for details!
· If you are interested in going to the Galapagos and Ecuador for Spring Break 2017, please attend a parent meeting on Thursday, June 2 in Mr. Smith’s Room (342 Math and Science). For more information, come to Room 342 during nutrition this week.
· Do you like to sing? Join the Award Winning Mira Costa Choirs. Whether you are a beginner or a rock star, there is room for everyone. See Mr. Hayden in Room 2 for details.

· Don’t forget to buy a yearbook before they run out! They are $100 and you can purchase one at the student store. If you don’t know if you have purchased one you can check on Costa’s website.
SENIORS
· Seniors, head on over to the AUDITORIUM LOBBY TODAY at LUNCH to pick up your cap & gown and graduation tickets!

SPORTS
· Boys Basketball tryouts will be Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2 from 3:30 to 5 pm. All players interested in participating next year are encouraged to attend. Next year’s seniors and anyone interested in trying out for Varsity, please email Coach Amaral directly at [email protected].

· Grab some friends and enter the Spike 4 Friends Volleyball Tournament for a chance to win In-N-Out gift certificates and gear from local surf shops, and to support a great cause! See Ms. Cabrera in Room 45.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· Senior Clearance Deadline: If you have not done so, please bring copies of the following to the CCC by the end of this week: 1. Updated Naviance college admissions results. 2. Completed senior survey. 3. Acceptance letter from the school you will attend. This process will ensure your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

· COLLEGE APPLICATION SUMMER PREP SERIES– Get a jump on the process over the summer.
w Choosing a Major on Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00 pm. One of the most common reasons students consider applying to a certain college is because it has a major that they are interested in. We’ll discuss important items to consider when selecting a major as well as what to look for in a school. w Learn how to maximize your summer, and make college applications stress-free! On June 9 at 2:00 pm. We will review the general College Application timeline and then delve into what you should focus on each month. We will cover strategies that can help you to stay organized, and will practice using Naviance to create and evaluate your College List. Parents are welcome to attend. · EL CAMINO START PROGRAM – El Camino College is offering a free STEM and robotics program this summer. In the STEM Training and Robotics Technology (START) program, students build a VEX robot and three electric projects, learn STEM career pathways, and go on three field trips. No prerequisite courses or prior technical experience required to apply. The program runs July 5 to July 28, Monday through Friday. Apply online: www.elcamino.edu/academics/indtech/start. SENIORS
w El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you through the month of May on Fridays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
