STUDENT INFO
· Academic Waiver Forms are now available online under the Academics tab on the MCHS website. Click on 2016-17 Course Selection to find the waiver form link. Waiver forms are electronic. No paper copies will be accepted. Waivers are due by May 15, 2016.
· Have you not yet found the perfect Spring Break 2017 trip? Would you like to swim with sea lions and penguins in the Southern Hemisphere? Yes, there are penguins! Come talk to Mr. Smith in Room 342 about going to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands next year.
· Discover South Africa during Spring Break 2017: Mandatory meeting on Wednesday, 5/4 during lunch in Room 410. New sign-ups welcome. Email [email protected] if you are unable to attend.
· Come celebrate poetry at the library! Join us for a Poetry Open Mic this Friday during lunch. You can recite both original and favorite poems, or just come watch. Let Ms. Lofton know if you would like to recite.
· Applications are currently being accepted for the nationally award winning Mustang Morning News Staff. Apply online at www.mustangmorningnews.com or see Mr. Hernandez in Room 108.
· Community Service Opportunity: Grand View is looking for eight Mustangs seeking community service time who want to work the moon bounce on May 14. Shifts are 10 am – 12:30 pm and 12:30 – 3:00 pm. Interested? Contact Julie at (310) 922-6575 or [email protected].
· Attention Next Year’s Seniors and Juniors: The long-awaited time is here to sign up for parking in the student lot for the 2016-2017 school year. Come to the Admin. Building/Guidance Office (see Ms. Gardner) before/after school, during snack or lunch to sign up. Students are not allowed to sign up for their friends. If you currently have a parking permit, a new one is required for next year to park in the lot.

SPORTS
· The MCHS Dance Team will be holding auditions for its 2016/2017 season! Come dance with the award winning National Champion team! We also perform at home football games, basketball games and more! COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
· Visits – Santa Monica College individual appointments on May 11 starting at 12 pm – sign Sign up in the CCC; AFS (Study Abroad) on May 16 at 12:20 pm. Please sign up on Naviance.
· Out of State College Mini Fair – May 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the MCHS Cafeteria. Come meet with admission representatives from 20 to 30 out-of-state colleges! Please RSVP on Naviance.
· Boston College Information Event – Presented by Steven Koo, Assistant Director of Admissions on Monday, May 16 at 7 pm. Event location: Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City – Ballroom D 555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, CA 91608. Parking – Boston College will pay for self-parking (but not valet parking). · SCROC (SoCal Roc) has started enrollment for the fall semester. Sign up in the College and Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.
· Internship Opportunity – The District Office of Assemblyman David Hadley offers interested students an opportunity to learn about state government and the political process. The interns will have a hands-on role in research, interacting with constituents, and learn the operations of a legislative office. Assemblyman Hadley represents the areas of Torrance, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and the LA communities of Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, El Camino Village and West Carson. SENIORS
· Senior Clearance Deadline is May 20. Please bring copies of the following to the CCC: 1. Updated Naviance college admissions results. 2. Completed senior survey. 3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending. This process will ensure your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.
· El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you through the month of May on Fridays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
