STUDENT INFO           

·         Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Munich – OH MY! Come by Ms. Caamano’s Room 24 or Ms. Hutchinson’s Room 20 for information on next year’s Central European Spring Break trip! Everyone is welcome!

·         AP Students: Rosters for the 2016 AP Exams have now been posted on the front windows of the Administration Building showing room assignments and times. Please check the rosters ASAP. If you’re registered and do not see your name, please see Ms. Norris in the office immediately.

·         Model UN: Meeting for all MUNers going to Davis is Friday, Apr. 29 at lunch in Room 201.

·         Discover South Africa during Spring Break 2017: If you’re interested in this life changing adventure, see Mr. Cox during P.M. office hours or lunch in Room 410 or email [email protected] for details. Don’t delay; deadline to sign up is coming soon.

·         Interested in going to Costa Rica? Come to Mr. Chow’s Room 47 for more information about Costa Rica for Spring Break 2017.

·         Attention Next Year’s Seniors and Juniors: The long-awaited time is approaching to sign up for parking in the student lot for the 2016-2017 school year. Starting Monday, May 2, come to the Admin. Building/ Guidance Office (see Ms. Gardner) before/after school, during snack or lunch to sign up. Students are not allowed to sign up for their friends. If you currently have a parking permit, a new one is required for next year to park in the lot.

·         Come see beautiful accordion books created by Ms. Park’s Art 1 classes now on display in the Library! All books are based on a theme chosen by the students who were given prompts to respond to using collage, drawing, painting, and pen & ink techniques.

SPORTS

·         Audition for the award winning National Champion Dance Team! Auditions for the 2016/2017 season will be held May 11, 12, and 13 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm in Room 81. Questions? [email protected].

FACULTY

·         The Mira Costa History Project has undertaken the task of researching, recording, and writing a comprehensive history of Mira Costa. This has not been done in 66 years. It’s a very ambitious project and we need your help to make this a reality. Come join this adventure by attending a meeting this Friday, April 29, lunch time, Room 222 or contact Chuck Currier at x5086. It’s a compelling story!

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·         BSU: Meeting TODAY. Make sure you have your speeches prepared!

·         National Honor Society: Applications for NHS are now available to current sophomores and juniors on the NHS page of the school website. Deadline for submission is Friday 4/29 by 3:00 pm to Mrs. Cabrera’s school mailbox.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·         Visits U.S. Marines on May 4 during lunch.

·         Out of State College Mini Fair May 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the MCHS Cafeteria. Come meet with admission representatives from 20 to 30 out-of-state colleges! Please RSVP on Naviance.

·         SCROC (SoCal Roc) has started enrollment for the fall semester. Sign up in the College and Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.

·         Internship OpportunityThe District Office of Assemblyman David Hadley offers interested students an opportunity to learn about state government and the political process. The interns will have a hands-on role in research, interacting with constituents, and learn the operations of a legislative office. Assemblyman Hadley represents the areas of Torrance, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and the LA communities of Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, El Camino Village and West Carson. SENIORS  

·   Senior Clearance Deadline is May 20. Please bring copies of the following to the CCC: 1. Updated Naviance college admissions results. 2. Completed senior survey. 3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending. This process will ensure your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

·   College Map Event – Friday, April 29 during lunch – Show us where you will be attending school in the fall. Wear your new school gear to the Mustang Mall stage and place your sticker on the map.

·   El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you in April on Thursdays (TODAY) and in May on Fridays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
