STUDENT INFO           

·         The Library Open Poetry Mike event has been rescheduled to Friday, May 6 during lunch in the Library. Please plan to attend and consider sharing a poem.

·         Spain 2017 meeting at lunch on Wednesday in Room 70! We still have spots left so come by for more info!

·         The Manhattan Beach Library has summer volunteer opportunities available for students. Students interested in helping with the summer reading program need to complete a volunteer application and attend a training session on Thursday, May 19 at 4 pm or Monday, June 20 at 6 pm.

The library is also piloting a new volunteer opportunity this summer: Tech Pop Ups. Teens will help customers learn how to download and use eBooks! The training session for this volunteer opportunity is Saturday, May 7 at 3 pm. Contact the Manhattan Beach Library (310.545.8595) for more information and to complete an application. You can also pick up a volunteer application at the Mira Costa Library. 

·         TODAY is the last day to turn in your Spirit Wear Orders. Drop orders off in the Student Store or order online.

 

SPORTS

·         Mira Costa Hockey: The Mira Costa hockey team beat El Segundo 5-4 with a short-handed goal by Bryce Tournat in the last seconds of the game. Goal scorers included Bryce Tournat with 3 goals, while Wyatt Light and Jack St. Ivany had a goal apiece. Come out to watch the action on Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30 pm as the team takes on PV.

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

·         Do you like anime? Or do you want to learn more/get involved in the anime community? If so, go to Anime Club in Room 205 on Mondays (TODAY).

·         Come to Investor’s Club this Tuesday in Mr. Geczi’s Room 225. We will be having a guest speaker talk about his experience with the financial markets.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·         Visits St. Mary’s College, Indiana TODAY at 10:23 am; Kansas State University TODAY at 12:20 pm. Please sign up on Naviance.

·         Out of State College Mini Fair May 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the MCHS Cafeteria. Come meet with admission representatives from 20 to 30 out-of-state colleges! Please RSVP on Naviance.

·         SCROC (SoCal Roc) has started enrollment for the fall semester. Sign up in the College and Career Center to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application.

SENIORS  

·   Senior Clearance Deadline is May 20. Please bring copies of the following to the CCC: 1. Updated Naviance college admissions results. 2. Completed senior survey. 3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending. This process will ensure your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the fall.

·   College Map Event – Friday, April 29 during lunch – Show us where you will be attending school in the fall. Wear your new school gear to the Mustang Mall stage and place your sticker on the map.

·   El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you in April on Thursdays and in May on Fridays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.

TESTING/WORKSHOPS

·   C2 Educate is offering 9 different mock AP Tests that students can take before May AP test days. Subjects include Chemistry, U.S. History, Language & Composition, Calculus AB, Biology, World History, U.S. Government & Politics, Physics 1, and Psychology.
