STUDENT INFO
· Current 11th grade CSF members should be very careful when choosing their classes for next year. Remember that your first semester senior grades (added to three previous semester memberships) determine whether you will be a sealbearer at graduation. You must take enough classes from List I and List II and continue working on those A’s to have enough CSF points. Remember, B’s are only worth 1 CSF point, but A’s are worth 3 points, and you need 10 points to qualify!
· Come see THE ADDAMS FAMILY – it’s to DIE for! Pre-sale tickets will be sold in the Mustang Mall at lunch starting Monday, 4/18 throughout the week. Pre-sale prices are $10 for students/seniors and $15 for adults. After the show opens on Friday, April 22, tickets will increase to $12 & $18.
· Biotechnology has arrived at Costa!!! Freshmen who are interested in applying should come to an information meeting in Room 350 this Friday at lunch. Students who complete this three-year pathway will graduate Mira Costa High School with experience and materials that rival that of a college graduate with a science major. They will enter undergraduate labs well equipped to perform virtually any technical application and/or they will be competitive applicants for paid internships and jobs in biotechnology. The deadline to apply is April 29.
· Did you know that April is National Poetry Month AND National School Library Month. Come celebrate at your library! Come make poetry at our maker table. And, sign up to participate in our Poetry Open Mic during lunch on Friday, April 29. And, if you haven’t yet checked out our green screen, come by and pose for a photo!
· Incoming juniors and seniors finalizing classes with your counselor for next year: Honors Earth Science through UCLA is the class for you! Located right here at Mira Costa, Room 238, it is the only Dual Credit class (high school and college credit*) at Mira Costa. The transcript can earn you credit to another college, even if you do not go to UCLA. No AP exam. Four major fields of study are Astronomy, Oceanography, Meteorology and Geology. GPA boost! See Mr. Kurz, UCLA Instructor, in Room 238 or email [email protected] for more details. *College credit is optional
