STUDENT INFO
· MCHS Alumni, Golden Globe winner and star of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Rachel Bloom is coming to Mira Costa to share her journey and answer your questions! You can see her speak during AM or PM office hours March 23 in the auditorium. Email your question to Ms. Hutchinson by Friday 3/18 at [email protected] for a chance to hear the star’s response!
· Due to the late start tomorrow (Wednesday), the library will open at 9:40 AM.
· Come to Dessert Theater at 7:00 pm on Thursday in the New Theater. Cost is $5 at the door. There will be amazing performances that we will be taking to our theater festival.
· If you are interested in taking AP Studio Art next year and did not attend the information meeting, see Ms. Martin in Room 62 to sign up for a portfolio review of your artwork. The portfolio review is a prerequisite and must be done before you sign up for classes!
· Ms. Dixon and the art department are now offering open studio time in art and ceramics. Come work on your projects or get extra help! Art: Tuesdays in Room 109, 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Ceramics: Wednesdays in Room 107, 3:00 – 4:30 pm.
· Call for Art: The 16th annual All Media Student Art Show will be held at the Manhattan Beach Creative Arts Center April 22 – 30. All students are encouraged to participate. Entries can be any medium (drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture and ceramics). Prizes will be awarded in each category. See Ms. Martin in Room 62 for more info and official entry form. Deadline to submit work is March 28.
· The March Madness 3v3 Basketball Tournament has arrived. Sign-ups are in Room 40 (ASB room) TODAY, Tuesday March 15 at lunch. Cost is $5 per team. One varsity basketball member only is allowed per team.
· Need community service? The next delivery for Lunches with Love is Sunday, Mar. 20. We feed the homeless on Skid Row with your bagged lunches. For more information, go to our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/luncheswithlovemb.
SENIORS
· If you are interested in speaking or performing at graduation or senior recognition, pick up an application in the main office or Room 15. Apps are due 3/31 to Ms. Owen.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
· The Library Club meets in the library lunchroom during lunch TODAY.
· Come to Drama Club every Wednesday at lunch in Room 1!
· Come to Room 1 during lunch on Thursday to see Drama’s Saint Patrick’s Day Noontime Theatre!
· Wanna LOL? Well come to Improv Club every Tuesday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 1.
· We’re getting lyrical in It’s Lit! Club this Wednesday at lunch in Mr. Wheeler’s Room 21. Cruise by if you love hidden meanings and groovy tunes.

- Boeing Internship – Juniors interested in the summer internship program at Boeing must attend a mandatory informational meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 16 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the CCC. Parents are encouraged to attend. Please sign up on Naviance.
- LABioMed 2016 Summer Fellowship Program – An opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to work in an exciting biomedical research environment. This is an eight-week program allowing students to assist their assigned mentors who are accomplished medical scientists involved in cutting-edge biomedical research. The Fellowships begin on Monday, June 20* and continue through Friday, Aug. 5. Students will work full-time and receive a total stipend of $2,160. This year’s 2016 application is now available on line at http://labiomed.org/summer-fellowship-application. Completed applications must be received or postmarked by Mar. 15, 2016. - SoCalRoc is now enrolling for its nine-week courses. Classes begin Apr. 11. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the CCC.
TESTING/WORKSHOPS
· PJ Test Prep is offering a free SAT or ACT practice test on April 2 from 10:00 am – 2:05 pm. Location is the Holiday Inn Express Hermosa Beach; please RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp. Students and/or parents return later that afternoon (5:45 – 6:45 pm) to get the results, learn free test strategy tips and find out all about the ACT and new SAT! Questions, please call 310-529-7285.
· Revolution Prep is offering a free ACT or SAT full-length mock exam on Mar. 19 at MCHS from 9 am – 11pm. To register, email Jean Stroud at [email protected]. Revolution Prep is also offering a student/parent presentation, “An Insider’s Guide to College Prep,” on Mar. 23 in the CCC from 9:30 – 10:20 am. Please sign up on Naviance for the presentation.
SENIORS
· El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. During the month of March there will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
