STUDENT INFO
· The March Madness 3v3 Basketball Tournament has arrived. Sign-ups are in Room 40 (ASB room) TODAY, Monday March 14 and Tuesday March 15 at lunch. Cost is $5 per team. One varsity basketball member only is allowed per team.
· Need community service? The next delivery for Lunches with Love is Sunday, Mar. 20. We feed the homeless on Skid Row with your bagged lunches. For more information, go to our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/luncheswithlovemb.
· Summer School Sign-ups are right around the corner. If you want to hone your skills and get help with the summer reading, sign up for Summer Reading: A Study of the Selected Literature. The class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 – 10:30 am or an additional class 4 – 6:30 pm.
· Congratulations to all the students who submitted entries in the Neptunian Art Contest. Student art finalists who were unable to attend the reception are requested to pick up their artwork and prizes during snack, lunch or after school from Ms. Gardner in the Admin Office.
· An Evening of Eclectic Ensembles: Win one, two or three items in our rockin’ raffle TONIGHT at 6 pm in the Cafeteria. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Check out the growing list of items to win on the orchestra website, www.mchsorchestra.com, where you can also purchase student tickets at a 50% discount.
· Sadie Hawkins is March 19. Tickets are on sale now. Go to the ASB room to grab forms and the Student Store to purchase tickets. Buy your tickets this week to reserve your spot. Last day for Off Campus Guest ticket sales is TODAY.
SENIORS
· If you are interested in speaking or performing at graduation or senior recognition, pick up an application in the main office or Room 15. Apps are due 3/31 to Ms. Owen.
FACULTY
· A big THANK YOU from the Mira Costa Dance Company to all the teachers who put their blood, sweat and tears into Dancing with the Teachers. All numbers were AMAZING! Congrats to our Dancing with the Teacher 2016 Champion!

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
· The Geeks Club and Library Club are both having their club photos taken during lunch TODAY in the Mustang Mall. The Geeks will come to the library to meet right after that.
· Do you have any used or old shoes that you would like to donate? Bring them to Mr. Calderon’s Room 346 for the Philanthropic Runners Club Shoe Drive and drop them into the donation box.
· Mustangs4Change: Come to Room 248 TODAY at lunch to learn about how you can support the refugee crisis in Syria.
· Stop Talking, Start Doing. Come to Shut Up and Help Club every Wednesday in Room 22 to help the homeless.
· TODAY the Ping Pong Club will be hosting Table Tennis Pro Lloyd McQueen from South Bay Table Tennis in Torrance. He is coming to share a couple of technique tips and hit the ball around with the students. This is open to anyone interested in higher level Pong, whether or not you are in the club. Come to Fisher Gym at lunch today and check it out, if you are interested.

- Boeing Internship – Juniors interested in the summer internship program at Boeing must attend a mandatory informational meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 16 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the CCC. Parents are encouraged to attend. Please sign up on Naviance.
- LABioMed 2016 Summer Fellowship Program – An opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to work in an exciting biomedical research environment. This is an eight-week program allowing students to assist their assigned mentors who are accomplished medical scientists involved in cutting-edge biomedical research. The Fellowships begin on Monday, June 20* and continue through Friday, Aug. 5. Students will work full-time and receive a total stipend of $2,160. This year’s 2016 application is now available on line at http://labiomed.org/summer-fellowship-application. Completed applications must be received or postmarked by Mar. 15, 2016. - SoCalRoc is now enrolling for its nine-week courses. Classes begin Apr. 11. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the CCC.
TESTING/WORKSHOPS
· PJ Test Prep is offering a free SAT or ACT practice test on April 2 from 10:00 am – 2:05 pm. Location is the Holiday Inn Express Hermosa Beach; please RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp. Students and/or parents return later that afternoon (5:45 – 6:45 pm) to get the results, learn free test strategy tips and find out all about the ACT and new SAT! Questions, please call 310-529-7285.
· Revolution Prep is offering a free ACT or SAT full-length mock exam on Mar. 19 at MCHS from 9 am – 1 pm. To register, email Jean Stroud at [email protected]. Revolution Prep is also offering a student/parent presentation, “An Insider’s Guide to College Prep,” on Mar. 23 in the CCC from 9:30 – 10:20 am. Please sign up on Naviance for the presentation.
· Applerouth ACT Prep at MCHS – Applerouth is offering an ACT test prep course at Mira Costa beginning Saturday, Mar. 12. The course will include 7 test prep sessions and 3 mock ACT exams for $499. SENIORS
· El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. During the month of March there will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you on Thursdays (TODAY) from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
