STUDENT INFO
· Summer School Sign-ups are right around the corner. If you want to hone your skills and get help with the summer reading, sign up for Summer Reading: A Study of the Selected Literature. The class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 – 10:30 am or an additional class 4 – 6:30 pm.
· Congratulations to all the students who submitted entries in the Neptunian Art Contest. Student art finalists who were unable to attend the reception are requested to pick up their artwork and prizes during snack, lunch or after school from Ms. Gardner in the Admin Office.
· An Evening of Eclectic Ensembles: Win one, two or three items in our rockin’ raffle this Friday, March 11, 6 pm in the Cafeteria. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. Check out the growing list of items to win on the orchestra website, www.mchsorchestra.com, where you can also purchase student tickets at a 50% discount.
· Want to see your teachers dance battle against one another? Then come out and support Mira Costa’s Advanced Dance class as they present “Dancing with the Teachers,” Thursday, Mar. 10 at 7 pm in the Auditorium. Presale tickets are $4 with ASB, $5 without ASB and $7 at the door. You will get to see your favorite teachers battle it out as your favorite artists. Come have a good laugh, and remember this great event.
· Attention all second period classes! Mira Costa Rica Club is having a fundraiser for the organizations we represent. Teachers, check your emails and mailboxes for more info! Thanks for your participation.
· Sadie Hawkins is March 19. Tickets are on sale now. Go to the ASB room to grab forms and the Student Store to purchase tickets. Buy your tickets this week to reserve your spot. Last day for Off Campus Guest ticket sales is Friday, Mar. 11.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
· Club Day is TODAY at lunch in the Mustang Mall. Don’t forget your money!
· Mustangs4Change: Come to Room 248 this Friday at lunch to learn about how you can support the refugee crisis in Syria.
· K-Pop Club will be meeting this Thursday in Room 74. We will be discussing Korean pop culture. Everyone is welcome!
· Stop Talking…Start Doing. Come to Shut Up and Help Club every Wednesday (TODAY) in Room 22 to help the homeless.
· This Friday, Mar. 11, the Ping Pong Club will be hosting Table Tennis Pro Lloyd McQueen from South Bay Table Tennis in Torrance. He is coming to share a couple of technique tips and hit the ball around with the students. This is open to anyone interested in higher level Pong, whether or not you are in the club. Come to Fisher Gym at lunch this Friday and check it out, if you are interested.
· Come to Pink Ribbon Club every Thursday in Room 78 to discuss upcoming events!
· Come to Room 1 at lunch every Wednesday (TODAY) for Drama Club.

- Boeing Internship – Juniors interested in the summer internship program at Boeing must attend a mandatory informational meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 16 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm in the CCC. Parents are encouraged to attend. Please sign up on Naviance.
- LABioMed 2016 Summer Fellowship Program – An opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to work in an exciting biomedical research environment. This is an eight-week program allowing students to assist their assigned mentors who are accomplished medical scientists involved in cutting-edge biomedical research. The Fellowships begin on Monday, June 20* and continue through Friday, Aug. 5. Students will work full-time and receive a total stipend of $2,160. This year’s 2016 application is now available on line at http://labiomed.org/summer-fellowship-application. Completed applications must be received or postmarked by Mar. 15, 2016. - SoCalRoc is now enrolling for its nine-week courses. Classes begin Apr. 11. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the CCC.
TESTING/WORKSHOPS
· Revolution Prep is offering a free ACT or SAT full-length mock exam on Mar. 19 at MCHS from 9 am – 1 pm. To register, email Jean Stroud at [email protected]. Revolution Prep is also offering a student/parent presentation, “An Insider’s Guide to College Prep,” on Mar. 23 in the CCC from 9:30 – 10:20 am. Please sign up on Naviance for the presentation.
· Applerouth ACT Prep at MCHS – Applerouth is offering an ACT test prep course at Mira Costa beginning Saturday, Mar. 12. The course will include 7 test prep sessions and 3 mock ACT exams for $499. SENIORS
· El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. During the month of March there will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:40 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
