STUDENT INFO
· Attention all students who took Marine Science last year: There are places available this year for the Catalina Odyssey sailing trip. Spots are first come, first served. If interested, come see Mr. Smith in Room 342 at lunch on Thursdays (TODAY).
· Volunteer opportunity! Grand View Elementary in Manhattan Beach is having a Science Expo on Wednesday, March 16 from 3 to 7 pm. This is a great opportunity to receive volunteer hours/credit by helping out with fun experiments and other exciting duties. · Last day to turn in CSF Membership forms is Friday, Feb. 26 in Room 243.
· Attention Mustangs! The Talent Show is this Friday the 26th at 7:00 pm. Purchase tickets in Room 40, 41 or the Student Store: $4 presale with ASB card, $5 pre-sale without ASB card, and $6 at the door.

· Calling all art! Any Costa student or faculty may submit up to two (2) pieces to the Art Club’s annual All-media All-MCHS Art Show. See Ms. Martin in Room 62.
· There are over 1 million teens experiencing homelessness every year in the U.S. How can we as a school help? Donate our jeans! By donating your jeans, our school can win a $5,000 grant and $500 to throw a party for the students. Look for our Jeans for Teens boxes located around campus: in the main office, band room, ASB room, Mr. Zeoli’s Room 23, and other locations. Ask a Guardian Society member for more information. We will be collecting jeans through Friday, 2/26.
SENIORS
· Do not forget to turn in your CSF membership by Friday. Remember you need one semester of senior grades, along with three other semesters to become a “Life Member” or seal bearer for graduation.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
· Come to Mustangs4Change this Friday at lunch in Room 248 to learn how you can support refugees.
· The K-Pop and K-Drama Club will be having a meeting TODAY in Room 24. Everyone is welcome.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
- Visits: Santa Monica College on Wednesday, March 2 at 9:27 am (am office hours).
- The Harvey Mudd College Society of Women Engineers Conference is a one day conference on Saturday, March 26, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. This is an opportunity for young women to learn more about careers in the fields of engineering, math and the sciences. The conference exposes attendees to engage with professional engineers, professors and Harvey Mudd students. $15/ student for pre-registration by Feb. 29, 2016; $20/student after Feb. 29, 2016 or at the door; $10/ accompanying parent. - LABioMed 2016 Summer Fellowship Program – An opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to work in an exciting biomedical research environment. This is an eight-week program allowing students to assist their assigned mentors who are accomplished medical scientists involved in cutting-edge biomedical research. The Fellowships begin on Monday, June 20* and continue through Friday, Aug. 5. Students will work full-time and receive a total stipend of $2,160. - SoCalRoc is now enrolling for its nine-week courses. Classes begin April 11. Sign up now to speak with a SCROC advisor and pick up an application in the CCC.
TESTING/WORKSHOPS
· ESSAY WORKSHOP Susan Levenson with Kaplan Testing, will be conducting an essay writing workshop for the ACT/SAT during the afternoon office hours on March 2nd. During this workshop, students will learn the essay format, how to analyze an author’s perspective or argument, and the key steps they can take to craft a well-written essay in the time provided. · PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT, and ACT tests on March 5th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Hermosa Beach Holiday Inn Express. · El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment test, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor.
