STUDENT INFO
· AP Students: Don’t forget to sign up at the student store TODAY at lunch only to register to take your AP exams. Please bring your completed blue worksheet and a pen to complete the actual registration form. Checks ($97 for each exam) should be made payable to MCHS.
· Whoa Whoa, dude, there’s an art show in Room 60. Only the cool kids are coming, Feb. 2-12.
· MCHS Aquatics Junior Lifeguard Conditioning Program: Training to pass the Jr. Lifeguard Swim Test & conditioning workouts for returning JGs. Sign up by March 14 – space is limited. Three sessions at Mira Costa pool:
Session 1: 3/21 – 4/14 (M/T/Th, excluding April 4, 5, 7) 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Session 2: 4/18 – 5/5 (M/T/Th) 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Session 3: 5/9 – 5/26 (M/T/Th) 4:00 – 5:00 pm
All participants must be at least 9 years old by July 1, 2016, and are expected to have mastered basic swimming skills. Classes taught by MCHS Aquatics student athletes. · Mira Costa Hockey: There will be a mandatory meeting for both players and parents on Monday, Feb. 8 at 7 pm in Room 242. If you can’t make it, please see Mr. Oystrick in Room 242.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
· Embarrass your friends or loved ones with a singing Valgram from Coterie, the girls a cappella group! Only $3 to send “Talk Dirty,” “Latch,” and/or “L-O-V-E” to anyone in periods 1, 2, 4 and 5.
· Come to ASL Club in Room 124 under the history building on Friday during lunch to learn sign language!
· K-Pop and K-Drama Club will meet TODAY. We will be trying different Korean snacks and drinks. Anyone is welcome!
· Stop talking and start helping! Come to Shut Up and Help Club in Room 22 every Wednesday!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
- PSAT Score Sheets will be available for pick-up in the CCC TODAY, Feb. 4 during SNACK and LUNCH.
- College Fair – Torrance – North High School is hosting a College Fair on Saturday, Feb. 20, 10 am – 2 pm. The fair is free featuring representatives from many colleges, universities, trade schools and the military. Financial information will be available. North High School, 3620 W. 182nd St., Torrance.
- SoCal Roc – Class schedules are available in the CCC. Sign up in the CCC to meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor or drop in on Mondays during snack.
TESTING
· PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on March 5, 10:00 am – 2:oo pm at the Hermosa Beach Holiday Inn Express. Results, free test strategy tips and information about the new SAT will be available following the test at 2:30 pm for students and/or parents. Please RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp. Questions? SENIORS
· El Camino Assessment Testing at MCHS – If you have applied to El Camino College, you have an opportunity to complete your assessment testing at MCHS. Testing will take place on Thursday, February 11 at 10:00 am – 12:30 pm in Room 241. Reserve your spot on Naviance; seating is limited.
Please bring your El Camino Student ID.
· The new FAFSA is now available online at fafsa.ed.gov.
