STUDENT INFO           

·         Come audition for the AIDS Benefit Show in Room 1 during Office Hours on Wednesday. Come prepared with a song, dance or whatever you’d like to perform.

·         If you haven’t checked out books for Spring Semester classes yet, please do so today in the Library. Be sure to have your ID. We also need ALL books from Fall Semester only classes back now.

·         Author Visit: Please mark your calendar NOW to come to the little theater during either AM or PM Office Hours next week (February 10)  to hear author Marisa Reichardt. And, stop by the library or go to bit.ly/orderunderwater online if you would like to order a copy of her book, Underwater.

·         MCHS Aquatics Junior Lifeguard Conditioning Program: Training to pass the Jr. Lifeguard Swim Test & conditioning workouts for returning JGs. Sign up by March 14 – space is limited. Three sessions at Mira Costa pool:

Session 1: 3/21 – 4/14 (M/T/Th, excluding April 4, 5, 7) 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Session 2: 4/18 – 5/5 (M/T/Th) 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Session 3: 5/9 – 5/26 (M/T/Th) 4:00 – 5:00 pm

All participants must be at least 9 years old by July 1, 2016, and are expected to have mastered basic swimming skills. Classes taught by MCHS Aquatics student athletes. ·         AP Students: Don’t forget to sign up at the student store TODAY at lunch only to register to take your AP exams. Please bring your completed blue worksheet and a pen to complete the actual registration form. Checks ($97 for each exam) should be made payable to MCHS.

 

FACULTY

·         Please help us get the library back to focusing on our library program! Encourage all your students to return any Fall Semester Class books immediately and to come get any Spring Semester Class books they still need. Physical school IDs or ID photos on their smartphones are required for all checkouts.

 

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

·         Club Day is Wednesday! Don’t forget your money!

·         The Library Club meets in the Library Lunchroom during lunch TODAY. Everyone is welcome. If you’ve read Carry On, consider joining the library club and our “Somewhat Virtual Library Club” linked with us via Google Hangouts on Air for a lively book discussion at 3 pm tomorrow in the library lunch room.

·         Stop talking and start helping! Come to Shut Up and Help Club in Room 22 every Wednesday! We will be selling Diddy Riese cookies at Club Day.

·         Wanna lol? Sure you do. Mosey on down to Room 1 every Tuesday (TODAY) for Improv Club.

·         Come to Room 1 every Wednesday for Drama Club!

·         Together We Tutor meets TODAY in Room 19!

·         Hola, Costa. Feb. 3 is Club Day. Come out and support Cultures Unite. We will be selling Taco Bell.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • College Fair – Torrance – North High School is hosting a College Fair on Saturday, Feb. 20, 10 am – 2 pm.  The fair is free featuring representatives from many colleges, universities, trade schools and the military.  Financial information will be available. North High School, 3620 W. 182nd St., Torrance.
  • SoCal Roc – Class schedules are available in the CCC.  Sign up in the CCC to meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor or drop in on Mondays during snack.

 

TESTING

·         Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors & Parents – Come to an informative presentation in the CCC on February 3 during morning office hours (9:27 am), reviewing the ins and outs of the SAT, ACT and PSAT presented by Applerouth. Students, sign up on Naviance so we can get a head count (under “upcoming college visits”). All grade levels and parents are welcome to attend.

·         PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on March 5, 10:00 am – 2:oo pm at the Hermosa Beach Holiday Inn Express. Results, free test strategy tips and information about the new SAT will be available following the test at 2:30 pm for students and/or parents. Please RSVP at www.pjtestprep.com/rsvp. Questions? SENIORS  

·         El Camino Assessment Testing at MCHS – If you have applied to El Camino College, you have an opportunity to complete your assessment testing at MCHS. Testing will take place on Thursday, February 11 at 10:00 am – 12:30 pm in Room 241. Reserve your spot on Naviance; seating is limited.

Please bring your El Camino Student ID.

 

·         The new FAFSA is now available online at fafsa.ed.gov.
