STUDENT INFO           

  • LIP SYNC 2016 is right around the corner! Clubs, teams, teachers and groups, show us your lip sync skills at dance team’s annual Lip Sync contest! If you have a favorite song you'd like to lip sync to and want a chance to win prize money, let us see it! 1st place $150, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50.

Lip Sync will be held Jan. 20, 2016! SIGN UP TODAY during lunch at the Lip Sync table located in the Mustang Mall! Or feel free to email [email protected] for sign-ups and more information.

  • The Annual Library Book Request Survey is now online at bit.ly/MCHSBookSurvey. We need YOUR input. Please take a couple of minutes to let the library and Library Club know what YOU want to see in the library collection. Thank you!
  • Mark your calendar to attend our second Maker Fair in the library on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 3 pm – 5 pm and have fun with both tech and craft activities. We also still have openings for clubs to sponsor an activity. Please sign up at bit.ly/MCHSMakerFair. Contact Ms. Lofton if you have any questions.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

  • Come to TASSEL Club TODAY at lunch in Room 17 to help children in Cambodia.
  • Come to Dance Club every other Tuesday in Room 79. We will be meeting TODAY, Jan. 5.
  • Come to Cultures Unite Club every Monday in Room 52 to learn about some really great cultures.
  • The Library Club meets in the library lunchroom during lunch TODAY. New members are welcome. The Library Club will also be meeting after school on Wednesday from 3 pm – 4:30 pm with our Somewhat Virtual Book Club via Google Hangouts on Air to discuss Elizabeth Wein’s Code Name Verity. We are excited that Elizabeth Wein will be joining us online for this discussion. Everyone is welcome, and we will have refreshments.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • Los Angeles Pediatric Society Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Center Internship Program

A free medical mentor internship program: Under the supervision of a health care educator/medical facility coordinator, participants shadow various medical professionals (nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, lab tech and/or physician, etc.) who provide a range of patient care services. When you fill out this application, you must currently be in 11th or 12th grade AND born ON or BEFORE 4/1/2000. For more information and to apply, go to: http://www.lapedsoc.org/summer.

  • SoCal Roc is beginning spring enrollment. Spring Class Schedules are available in the CCC. Sign up in the CCC to meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor.
  • SENIORS
    • Scholarship Notebooks – We are fortunate to have many donors in the area that provide scholarships to Mira Costa students. In order to apply for these scholarships, you must attend one scholarship notebook meeting in January (1/7, 1/14, or 1/21), and purchase the notebooks for $7.  Please sign-up on Naviance.  All forms are posted on the MCHS website: college tabsenior to-do’sscholarship notebook.
  • The new FAFSA is now available online at fafsa.ed.gov.
  • CCC Career Speakers – FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS  *Please sign up on Naviance or in the CCC*

    • Fri. 1/8/16 (12:20 pm) – Diana Allen - Hi technology careers.
  • PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the LAX Holiday Inn Express.
