STUDENT INFO           

  • If you have any used/new elementary school level reading books that you don’t want any more, please drop them off in Room 14 for a book drive.
  • Come pick up a vocal packet for auditions for The Addams Family, the spring musical, in the Drama Room 1 at snack and lunch this week to practice over winter break!
  • The final deadline for senior ads for Hoofprints Yearbook has been extended to TODAY Weds. 12/16.  No ads will be accepted after today, so make sure to turn yours in ASAP!!

FACULTY

  • Please release the following teams this week:

o  Wed. 12/16 TODAY – Girls Water Polo JV and F/S at 1:30 pm

o  Thurs. 12/17 – Girls Soccer, Varsity at 1:30 pm

o  Fri. 12/18 – Boys Basketball, all levels at 1:30 pm; Boys Soccer, all levels at 1:30 pm; Wrestling, Varsity at 8:00 pm.

SPORTS

  • Boys’ Golf: Those interested in trying out for Boys’ Golf for second semester see Mr. Cox in Room 410 during lunch or PM office hours this week.

SENIORS

  • Seniors: Important! Please see your counselor ASAP if you need any supporting documents for your college applications, due by Jan.1. Thursday, 12/17, will be the last date we will be able to help you until after the winter break. Double check all of your colleges. Thank you.

 

 

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

  • S-Club is holding a toy drive for the 1736 Family Crisis Center and the PATH shelter in downtown L.A.! Please drop off new or gently used toys in boxes located in the band room, choir room, orchestra room, Mr. Spo’s Room 352 and in the front office by Friday.
  • Help shed some light on the mystery poem this week in It’s Lit! Club. Drop by Mr. Wheeler’s Room 21 at lunch TODAY for the analytical collab sesh of the century.
  • Come to the Drama Room during PM office hours TODAY, 12/16 to watch fun holiday themed scenes. Maybe you will laugh. Maybe you will cry; but it’s gonna be pretty fly.
  • Do you like making money? Then come to Investor’s Club every Tuesday in Mr. Geczi’s Room 225.
  • There are over 7,000 homeless families in Los Angeles in need of footwear. HH Club is having a shoe drive. There are two boxes in the Learning Center labeled “Soles for Souls.” Please stop in and drop off some gently used or new shoes!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • Los Angeles Pediatric Society Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Center Internship Program

A free medical mentor internship program: Under the supervision of a health care educator/medical facility coordinator, participants shadow various medical professionals (nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, lab tech and/or physician, etc.) who provide a range of patient care services. When you fill out this application, you must currently be in 11th or 12th grade AND born ON or BEFORE 4/1/2000. For more information and to apply, go to: http://www.lapedsoc.org/summer.

  • SoCal Roc is beginning spring enrollment. Spring Class Schedules are available in the CCC. Sign up in the CCC to meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor.
  • SENIORS
    • Scholarship Notebooks – If you want to get started on assembling your notebook over the break, all forms are posted on the MCHS website: college tabsenior to-do’sscholarship notebook. Remember you must attend one of the three notebook meetings in January (1/7, 1/14 or 1/21). Please sign up on Naviance.
    • College application deadlines are approaching! Come to the CCC for one on one help with a CCC Counselor – walk in or make an appointment. Drop off your personal statements in the CCC to have a college counselor review it. Be sure to include the prompt and your email address.
  • CCC Career Speakers – FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS  *Please sign up on Naviance or in the CCC*

  • Test Prep Information
    • C2’s Winter Break Practice Tests – Dec. 12 – Jan. 3, 2016. New SAT, New PSAT, ACT, Current SAT and AP Tests are available. Registration: https://www.c2educate.com/winter-break-practice-test/.
    • PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on Jan. 2 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the LAX Holiday Inn Express.
