STUDENT INFO           

  • The Annual Library Book Request Survey is now online at bit.ly/MCHSBookSurvey. Responses to the survey will directly influence what books the Library orders for next year, so please hurry and respond so the books can arrive as soon as possible. The survey takes roughly three minutes to complete. Thank you in advance, and Happy New Year from the Library Club!
  • The final deadline for senior ads for Hoofprints Yearbook has been extended to Weds. 12/16.  No ads will be accepted after that date, so make sure to turn yours in ASAP!!

 

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

  • Girls Who Code meets TODAY in Room 116 at 3 pm! All newcomers welcome.
  • People say money can’t buy happiness, but I’d rather cry in a mansion! Come to Investor’s Club every Tuesday in Mr. Geczi’s Room 225.
  • There are over 7,000 homeless families in Los Angeles in need of footwear. HH Club is having a shoe drive. There are two boxes in the Learning Center labeled “Soles for Souls.” Please stop in and drop off some gently used or new shoes!

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • Los Angeles Pediatric Society Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Center Internship Program

A free medical mentor internship program: Under the supervision of a health care educator/medical facility coordinator, participants shadow various medical professionals (nurse, nutritionist, pharmacist, lab tech and/or physician, etc.) who provide a range of patient care services. When you fill out this application, you must currently be in 11th or 12th grade AND born ON or BEFORE 4/1/2000. For more information and to apply, go to: http://www.lapedsoc.org/summer.

  • SoCal Roc is beginning spring enrollment. Spring Class Schedules are available in the CCC. Sign up in the CCC to meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor.
  • SENIORS
    • College application deadlines are approaching! Come to the CCC for one on one help with a CCC Counselor – walk in or make an appointment. Drop off your personal statements in the CCC to have a college counselor review it. Be sure to include the prompt and your email address.
    • Scholarship Notebooks – If you want to get started on assembling your notebook over the break, all forms are posted on the MCHS website: college tabsenior to-do’sscholarship notebook. Remember you must attend one of the three notebook meetings in January (1/7, 1/14 or 1/21). Please sign up on Naviance.
  • CCC Career Speakers – FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS  *Please sign up on Naviance or in the CCC*

  • Test Prep Information
    • C2’s Winter Break Practice Tests – Dec. 12 – Jan. 3, 2016. New SAT, New PSAT, ACT, Current SAT and AP Tests are available. Registration: https://www.c2educate.com/winter-break-practice-test/.
    • PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on Jan. 2 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the LAX Holiday Inn Express.
