STUDENT INFO           

  • Repeat after me: “Man what a time” (Repeat!)…”To be alive!” (Repeat!). Go out to support the ad vanced Mira Costa Dance Company as they present “Diamonds Dancing,” Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7:00 pm in the small theatre. General Admission tickets are $5 at the door.
  • Take the MCHS Library December 3D printing challenge: Make a Holiday Season Cookie Cutter! Get easy directions to customize a cookie cutter at bit.ly/holidaycookiecutters. Once you design it, we’ll print it on the library 3D printers.
  • There’s a holiday-themed ComedySportz match this Friday, Dec. 4 in the new theater at 7:00 pm, $5 at the door. You won’t want to miss it!
  • Dodgeball Tournament sign-ups will be this week at lunch. Come to Room 41 (ASB Room) to sign up with your team of 6 people. The Tournament will begin Monday, 12/7.
  • If you are signed up to travel to Austria, Germany, and Switzerland for Spring Break, there is a MANDATORY meeting on Thursday, 12/3 at lunch in Room 15.
  • What are you doing Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 pm? No plans? Then consider checking out Mira Costa’s 5th annual Poetry Out Loud competition going down in the small theatre. While the judges tabulate, there will be a community open mic – any audience member can share a poem – if you are a poet, it’s a great opportunity to share your poetic genius! We hope you can make it out for this epic night of poetry.   • Come to a webinar in Room 200 (Bill Fauver’s room) during afternoon collaboration time TODAY to learn about video streaming services from Alexander Street Publishing. Contact Jane Lofton with any questions.

SPORTS

  • Swim Team info session at Pool on TODAY during PM office hours and 12/9 during AM office hours. All interested swimmers must attend one meeting.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

  • Science Olympiad meets TODAY in Room 342. Mark your calendars and come to CPK at any time on Tuesday, Dec. 15, to help support the club! Flyers to be distributed at a later date.
  • The Library Club is holding a discussion of The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey with the Somewhat Virtual Book Club network via Google Hangouts at 3:00 pm TODAY. Everyone is welcome to join us.
  • Come to Pink Ribbon Club every Thursday in Room 78 to support breast cancer patients!
  • Come to Drama Club at lunch TODAY in Room 1. We’ll be discussing important upcoming Holiday events!
  • Mandatory Poetry Out Loud contestant meeting in Rm. 44 the first 15 minutes of morning office hours on Wednesday, Dec. 9!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • College Representative VisitsPlease sign-up on Naviance
    • TODAY, Weds. 12/2 – Air Force Academy (9:27 am). Representative will discuss the Air Force Academy and ROTC Scholarships.
  • SoCal Roc is beginning spring enrollment. Spring Class Schedules are available in the CCC. Sign up in the CCC to meet with the SoCal Roc Counselor.
  • SENIORS – College application deadlines are approaching! Come to the CCC for one on one help with a CCC Counselor – walk in or make an appointment. Drop off your personal statements in the CCC to have a college counselor review it. Be sure to include the prompt and your email address.
  • El Camino Application Workshop – Complete your application with help from SMC and El Camino counselors. Computers will be available. Please sign up on Naviance.

  • Test Prep Information
    • Princeton Review New SAT Practice Exam at Mira Costa on Dec. 5, 9:00 am – 1:30 pm. Please register at http://www.princetonreview.com/product/offerings/275923
    • PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on December 5th from 10:00am – 2:00 pm at the Hermosa Beach Holiday Inn Express.
