STUDENT INFO
- Come and audition on Tues., Dec. 1 for the Holiday Benefit Show put on by Drama and Tech. Come prepared after school on Dec. 1 with a song, scene, poem, dance or monologue to audition with in Room 1.
- Come discover South Africa during Spring Break 2017. Space is limited for this incredible trip. See Mr. Cox in Room 410 or email [email protected] for details on how to sign up.
- Did you know that the library now has phone and Mac charger cords that you can borrow? Come by and check one out if you need to charge your device. Checkouts are for in-library or on-campus use and due back the day of checkout.
- What are you doing Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 pm? No plans? Then you should consider checking out Mira
Costa’s fifth annual Poetry Out Loud competition going down in the small theatre. While the judges tabulate, there will be a community open mic – any audience member can share a poem – if you are a poet, it’s a great opportunity to share your poetic genius! We hope you can make it out for this epic night of poetry. Admission is FREE! - Interested in going to London for Spring Break for 10 days? See Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court, the bloody tower of London, Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. See major shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, the London Philharmonic at the Royal Albert Hall, possibly a Premier league football match and more! Trip limited to 10 students, so hurry!
SPORTS
- Boys Tennis Tryouts for all new players will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1, Wednesday, Dec. 2, and Thursday, Dec. 3 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Mira Costa tennis courts. Players must attend all three days. If you have a conflict, please contact Coach Ciasulli directly at [email protected].

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
- The Library Club is meeting with our Somewhat Virtual Book Club network on Google Hangouts on Wednesday at 3 pm to discuss The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. Everyone is welcome.
- The Geeks and the Library Club are sponsoring a Maker Fair on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 3 pm – 5 pm. We want YOUR club to participate with a maker activity. Please go to bit.ly/MCHSMakerFair to sign up. Or contact Ms. Lofton for more information.
- Come to Pink Ribbon Club every Thursday in Room 78 to support breast cancer patients!
- Girls Who Code meets TODAY at 3 pm in Room 116!
- Come to Drama Club at lunch on Wednesday in Room 1. We’ll be discussing important upcoming Holiday events!
- If you enjoy laughing at people and having a good time, come to Improv Club at lunch on Tuesdays in Room 1!
- Come to Room 48 at lunch on Mondays (TODAY) for Young Democrats Club!
- Mandatory Poetry Out Loud contestant meeting in Rm. 44 the first 15 minutes of morning office hours on Wednesday, Dec. 9!
- Want to learn or experience different cultures Costa has to offer? Come to Room 52 every Monday for Cultures Unite.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
- SENIORS – College application deadlines are approaching! Come to the CCC for one on one help with a CCC Counselor – walk in or make an appointment. Drop off your personal statements in the CCC to have a college counselor review it. Be sure to include the prompt and your email address.
- College Representative Visits – Please sign-up on Naviance
- Weds. 12/2 – Air Force Academy (9:27 am). Representative will discuss the Air Force Academy and ROTC Scholarships.
- SMC and El Camino Application Workshops – Complete your application with help from SMC and El Camino counselors. Computers will be available. Please sign up on Naviance.
- Tuesday 12/1 – Santa Monica College, 11:25 am (The counselor will stay through lunch for questions.)

- Test Prep Information
- Princeton Review New SAT Practice Exam at Mira Costa on Dec. 5, 9:00 am – 1:30 pm. Please register at http://www.princetonreview.com/product/offerings/275923
- PJ TEST PREP is offering free practice SAT, New SAT and ACT tests on December 5th from 10:00am – 2:00 pm at the Hermosa Beach Holiday Inn Express.
