- From our library: Don’t miss the deadline to participate in the Banned Books Week contest. The deadline is TODAY, Friday, 10/9.
- Consider participating in the Manhattan Beach Library bookmark contest. The deadline is Oct. 24. The Manhattan Beach Library is also seeking submissions of poems, short stories, illustrations and photographs that depict what life is like for Manhattan Beach teens in 2015 for a zine to be published in December. Come by our library for details. And, take advantage of MB’s free SAT/ACT practice exam on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 11 am – 2:45 pm. Come by our library for details on all these activities.
- Only a few spots remain to travel to Austria, Germany & Switzerland during spring break 2016. Talk to Ms. Owen in Room 15.
- Come stop by the art gallery (Room 60) at lunch this week for a show featuring work produced by Mira Costa’s Visual Arts faculty; there is a variety of photography, painting, sculpture, fiber art and more. Hope to see you there.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
- The Geeks Club meets in the library lunch room during lunch TODAY. New members are welcome. Anyone wanting tech help or interested in seeing our 3D printer in action is also welcome.
- Join Toastmasters to build leadership and communication skills in Room 207 every Monday (TODAY).
- Come to Young at Heart Club in Mrs. Gesualdi’s Room 331 to help senior citizens with technology. Earn community service hours!
- Do you like to dance? Have you ever wanted to teach kids? Then come to Unity Dance Club in Ms. Choi’s Room 223 TODAY where you’ll have the opportunity to teach deserving elementary school students how to dance! All grades welcome!
- Come to UNICEF Club to improve the lives of children all over the world by educating, advocating and fundraising on behalf of UNICEF! Meets TODAY in Mr. Westerberg’s Room 19.
- Mustangs4Change: Raising awareness and activism towards the refugee crisis in Darfur. Meet this Friday in Mr. Bartlett’s chemistry Room 248.
- Come to American Sign Language (ASL) Club TODAY in Room 232 in the Math & Science building.
- Saving Lives, preparing our communities for disasters and helping out families in need is what we do! Come to Red Cross Club in Room 352B every Friday (TODAY) at lunch.

- Free Testing
C2 Test Prep is offering free New PSAT, New SAT, SAT or ACT practice exams on Oct. 10 at UCLA Haines Hall – check in starts at 8:30 am, testing starts at 10:00 am. Highest scores win $1,000 toward college. Parents are invited to attend workshops while students are testing. This event is free; you will have to pay for parking. Space is limited.

- For Juniors taking the PSAT in October, Kaplan Test Prep will be hosting free online PSAT Cram Sessions to help students prepare for the upcoming New PSAT.
