  • The deadline to enter the Banned Books Week contest has been extended until the end of this week. Visit bit.ly/BBWcontest or come by the library to enter.
  • Guess what day it is? That’s right, you guessed it!! Waldo Wednesday! Come by the quad outside the La Vista rooms to take part in the dopest picture you’ve ever been in!! Follow @Waldo_Wednesday.
  • Parent Info Night for Spain 2017 is on Thursday at 6:30 pm in Room 70! Send your parents to hear more about this great opportunity!
  • Only a few spots remain to travel to Austria, Germany & Switzerland during spring break 2016. Talk to Ms. Owen in Room 15.
  • Come stop by the art gallery (Room 60) at lunch this week for a show featuring work produced by Mira Costa’s Visual Arts faculty; there is a variety of photography, painting, sculpture, fiber art and more. Hope to see you there.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS  

  • Mustangs4Change: Raising awareness and activism towards the refugee crisis in Darfur. Meet this Friday in Mr. Bartlett’s chemistry Room 248.
  • Come to American Sign Language (ASL) Club this Friday in Room 232 in the Math & Science building.
  • If you would like to join the Lunches with Love Club, come to Room 62 at nutrition tomorrow for a brief but very important meeting!
  • Saving Lives, preparing our communities for disasters and helping out families in need is what we do! Come to Red Cross Club in Room 352B every Friday at lunch.
  • The Library Club meets after school TODAY from 3 pm – 4:30 pm on Google Hangouts on Air with our Somewhat Virtual Book Club network of school library clubs around the country to discuss Jandy Nelson’s I’ll Give You the Sun. Everyone is welcome. We will also have refreshments.
  • First Badminton Club meeting of the year! This upcoming Monday, 10/12 in Mr. Kelley’s Room 332 at lunch! Bring new team members!
  • Come to Pink Ribbon Club this Thursday at lunch in Room 78. We make care packages for breast cancer patients at Torrance memorial. We will continue elections this week. New members welcome!
  • Mr. Wheeler’s Room 21 is the place to be this Wednesday at lunch if you love literature! It’s Lit! Club will be having its kickoff meeting. It’s going to be lit.
  • Come to Drama Club TODAY in Room 1. Not only will you watch a person perform, you’ll get a chance to, yourself!
  • So you thought you could dance? Come on down to Room 79 every other Tuesday for Dance Club to know all about dance.

  • SoCalRoc Classes – Natalie Hansen, SoCalRoc counselor, will be in the CCC on Mondays (TODAY) 9 am – 10:20am. Sign up in the CCC or just drop in.
  • Free Testing

C2 Test Prep is offering free New PSAT, New SAT, SAT or ACT practice exams on Oct. 10 at UCLA Haines Hallcheck in starts at 8:30 am, testing starts at 10:00 am. Highest scores win $1,000 toward college. Parents are invited to attend workshops while students are testing. This event is free; you will have to pay for parking. Space is limited.

  • For Juniors taking the PSAT in October, Kaplan Test Prep will be hosting free online PSAT Cram Sessions to help students prepare for the upcoming New PSAT.
