  • From the Library: It’s not too late to participate in the library’s Banned Books Week contest, open to students and staff alike! Banned Books week is an annual celebration that brings attention to the importance of protecting the freedom to read what we choose, even when works may be unorthodox or unpopular. To learn more about why this freedom is so important, take part in the library’s Banned Books Week Contest. Come by the library to see the exhibit and visit bit.ly/BBWcontest to participate in the contest for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate of your choice. You can participate in the contest by visiting that URL even if you can’t get to the library.
  • Only a few spots remain to travel to Austria, Germany & Switzerland during spring break 2016. Talk to Ms. Owen in Room 15.
  • Guess what day it is? That’s right, you guessed it!! Waldo Wednesday! Come by the quad outside the La Vista rooms TODAY to take part in the dopest picture you’ve ever been in!! Follow @Waldo_Wednesday on Instagram for Jetta pictures.
  • Last day to turn in CSF paper work is this Friday, Oct. 2. Come to Room 243 for applications and information.
  • Japan 2016 meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 72. Arigato!
  • If Mrs. Bledsoe is writing you a letter of rec, please deliver your packet to Karen Cunningham in Room 349 by Thursday, Oct. 1. Be sure ALL required documents are included per the CCC guidelines. Refer to the AP Bio website’s first post for more information.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS  

  • Come to Young Philosopher’s Society in Room 45 at lunch on Thursday, 10/1! All are welcome!
  • Fashion Club meeting this Friday at lunch in Room 131. Come support us at the Hometown Fair Oct. 3 at 1 pm in our showcase. Members can come in TODAY during office hours and Thursday at lunch to finish your pieces.
  • Saving lives, preparing our communities for disasters and helping families in need is what we do. Come to Red Cross Club in Room 352B Friday during lunch.
  • Come to Drama Club TODAY at lunch in Room 1! We will be discussing Hometown Fair and upcoming events of October.
  • Science Olympiad meets on Wednesdays (TODAY) at lunch in Room 342. New members welcome!
  • Come on down to Richstone Club in Room 207 during lunch on Thursday and learn how you can volunteer at the Richstone Family Center.
  • Come to Cuipo Club in Room 207 TODAY in the history building. Anyone can come learn how to save the environment.
  • Do you enjoy learning about and experiencing new cultures or just like meeting new people and having a good time? If so, come to Room 77 on Wednesdays during lunch (TODAY) and enjoy Baja Club.
  • Come to Ms. Geczi’s Room 72 if you’re interested in coming to Skid Row to meet and bring food to some wonderful people! Lend a Hand Club meets every Friday!

  • University of Washington Regional Event to be held at the Mira Costa Auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 6:30 pm – 8:30pm. This is a special event for prospective Huskies and their families.   • SoCalRoc Classes – Natalie Hansen, SoCalRoc counselor, will be in the CCC on Mondays (TODAY) 9 am – 10:20am. Sign up in the CCC or just drop in.
  • Free Testing

C2 Test Prep is offering free New PSAT, New SAT, SAT or ACT practice exams on Oct. 10 at UCLA Haines Hallcheck in starts at 8:30 am, testing starts at 10:00 am. Highest scores win $1,000 toward college. Parents are invited to attend workshops while students are testing. This event is free; you will have to pay for parking. Space is limited.

  • For Juniors taking the PSAT in October, Kaplan Test Prep will be hosting free online PSAT Cram Sessions to help students prepare for the upcoming New PSAT.   • Princeton Review is offering Free Mock SAT, ACT and PSAT tests at Mira Costa
