STUDENT INFO           

  • Attention all Costa students: If you still want to purchase a Stampedde t-shirt, they are now available in all sizes. Come by Room 40.
  • From the Library: Banned Books Week is an annual celebration that brings attention to the importance of protecting the freedom to read what we choose, even when works may be unorthodox or unpopular. In fact, many of our core literature books have been challenged in other communities. To learn more about why this freedom is so important, take part in the library’s Banned Books Week Contest. Come by the library to see the exhibit and visit bit.ly/BBWcontest to participate in the contest for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate of your choice. Both students and staff are welcome to participate. 
  • If Mrs. Bledsoe is writing you a letter of rec, please deliver your packet to Karen Cunningham in Room 349 by Thursday, Oct. 1. Be sure ALL required documents are included per the CCC guidelines. Refer to the AP Bio website’s first post for more information.
  • Attention students! Make sure to wear Green & Gold TODAY and come to the home football game at 7:00 pm & the post-game Stampede Dance!! It’s free admission & free food! Have your student IDs!
  • Homecoming Club Nominations are due TODAY in Room 41.
  • Interested in going to England and Switzerland next summer? Tour London, see great theater, hike below the Matterhorn and MORE! Come to Room 237 at lunch TODAY to find out more. Only 8 spots left, so make sure you attend!
  • Attention all new sophomores, juniors and seniors new to Costa: There will be a new student mixer in front of the Auditorium at lunch TODAY.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS  

  • If you are interested in learning sign language and meeting people who sign every day, come to ASL Club, Room 232 in the math and science building TODAY.
  • The Geeks Club meets in the library lunch room during lunch TODAY. Everyone is welcome.
  • Attention Mustangs! Are you interested in making Mira Costa look beautiful and helping the environment? Then come to Ecology Club in Room 352B on Mondays.
  • Attention Club Leaders: Remember that signups for Club Day on Oct. 14 are due next week between Monday at  10:05 am and Friday.
  • If you are interested in making films, come to Room 108 TODAY at lunch.
  • Saving Lives, preparing communities for disasters and helping families in need is what we do. Come to Room 352B (Math & Science Building) at lunch every Friday (TODAY).
  • Come to Soroptomist (S) Club every Monday in Ms. Howerton’s room (Rm. 16) at lunch. If you are looking for a bunch of volunteering opportunities, this is the club for you. New members welcome.
  • Come to Pink Ribbon Club this Thursday at lunch in Room 78. This club is centered around community service and making care packages for breast cancer patients at Torrance Memorial. New members welcome. We will discuss elections.

  • University of Washington Regional Event to be held at the Mira Costa Auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 6:30 pm – 8:30pm. This is a special event for prospective Huskies and their families.   • SoCalRoc Classes – Natalie Hansen, SoCalRoc counselor, will be in the CCC on Mondays 9 am – 10:20 am. Sign up in the CCC or just drop in.

Hermosa Beach Is seeking nominations for those who have exhibited strong leadership benefiting the community of Hermosa Beach and have shown potential for an expanded leadership role but who may not have the body of work to warrant other accolades.
