  • The brand new Manhattan Beach Library is forming a Teen Friends of the Library group. The first meeting is tomorrow, May 16 at 11 am. Participants will meet other local young people, earn community service and give back to the community. Meetings are every third Saturday of the month. Participants must bring a signed volunteer application found on the MB library’s website. You can also get a copy of the application form at our own Mira Costa Library.
  • Students! Come by the Cafeteria to see all the contest entries for next year’s student planner! Everyone will get to vote next Mon., Tues. & Wed. in the Cafeteria at snack and lunch!! Pick your 3 favorites!
  • The library will be closed due to Smarter Balanced testing from 7:50 am through the end of lunch every day from May 14 through Thursday, May 21. Please plan ahead and come before school or after lunch each of these days.
  • Interested in traveling to Austria, Germany and Switzerland in 2016? See Ms. Owen in Room 15 for details!
  • Ireland, Scotland & England Trip – Spring Break 2016. Limited Spots Remain!! See Mr. Cox in Room 410 or email [email protected] for details.
  • Mira Costa Choirs is having a fundraiser/service project. Bring in your old shoes, any kind – boots, sneakers, heels, loafers – to the front office or the Choir Room 2. Help us help those who need shoes.
  • Interested in joining the Mira Costa Drumline? Come to our Spring Workshop Series Tuesdays from 4:30 – 6:30 pm in Room 64, or come by Room 4 for more information.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                   

  • Come to Room 101 at lunch or nutrition TODAY to sign up for editor interviews for La Vista! This does not include staff writer or photographer interviews.
  • Want to get more involved in school? Join PACE, a leadership class that focuses on issues students may encounter in their high school years. For an application, go to Room 234 for more details.

FACULTY

  • In an unparalleled rivalry in the Torrance/Mira Costa Teacher Bowling League, Mr. Debevec’s team came in 4th place this year, while Jeff Mullikin, Karl Kurz and Hugo Ramirez took home the gold, finishing first out of 20 teams. Better luck next year, Costa Teachers.

SPORTS

  • The Mira Costa hockey team lost a hard-fought battle against Redondo Beach on Tuesday night by a score of 5-4. Wyatt Light scored two goals, while Christian Rogers and Ty Dillman had a goal each. Come out and support the team during their playoff run.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

El Camino College bound students – There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to help you with your Ed Plan and Class Registration on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:00 pm. Please sign up for your counseling appointment in the CCC now.

SoCalRoc – Meet with the SoCal Roc Representative in the CCC on Mondays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Sign up in the CCC for an appointment or drop in during snack on Mondays.

SENIORS

-Senior Clearance Deadline is TODAYPlease bring copies of the following to the CCC:  1. Updated Naviance college admissions results.  2. Completed senior survey.  3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending.
