STUDENT INFO

  • Come to the 1st Yearbook Photography Show in Room 60 every day this week at lunch! Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 for a chance to win your photo!
  • Tickets for Thoroughly Modern Millie will be sold in the Mustang Mall all this week. Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for adults, except for the Wednesday performance at 4 pm where tickets are $5 for students.
  • There is a mandatory meeting at lunch TODAY in Mr. Smith’s Room 342 for students going on the Catalina Sailing Trip. Grab your food and come get important paperwork and information.
  • Australia, New Zealand & Fiji – Meeting on Wednesday 4/29 at lunch in Room 72.
  • Applications are now being accepted for the Mustang Morning News staff. We’re looking for reporters, videographers and journalists of all kinds. Apply now at www.mustangmorningnews.com/join-the-staff.
  • AP Students: Rosters for the 2015 AP Exams have now been posted on the front windows of the Administration Building showing room assignments and times. Please check the rosters ASAP. If you’re registered and do not see your name, please see Ms. Norris in the office immediately.

SPORTS

  • The Mira Costa hockey team beat South Torrance 4 – 2 on Friday. Goal scorers included Ty Dillman, Austin Bowkus, Ryan Miller and Nate Schickler. Come see the action this Friday at 5:15 pm as they take on PV.
  • Trying out for football? See coach Morrow in Room 245 for details regarding upcoming spring football practices.
  • If you are interested in joining the Costa Colorguard, see Ms. Owen in Room 15.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                  

  • Fashion Club presents 2015’s EVOLVE fashion show; tickets will be on sale next week at lunch for only $4. Come be a part of the experience.
  • Science Olympiad meets TODAY in Rm. 350 at lunch.
  • It’s not too late to sign up for Relay for Life! If you are interested in participating this year, come to the Mustang Mall at lunch TODAY to sign up, or you can sign up online at relay.org.
  • Current Sophomores & Juniors: Applications for National Honor Society membership for the 2015 – 2016 school year are now open! See Mrs. Cabrera in Room 53 or the NHS page on the school website for an application.

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

Out of State College Mini Fair – May 12th 6:30 – 8:30pm in the MCHS Cafeteria.  Come meet with admission representatives from 15 to 30 out- of-state colleges!  Please RSVP on Naviance.

College visits in the CCC United States Naval Academy, May 6th during lunch.  Please sign up on Naviance.

El Camino College bound students – There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to help you with your Ed Plan and Class Registration on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:00 pm.  Please sign-up for your counseling appointment in the CCC. There will also be an ECC Registration Workshop in the CCC on Thursday, April 30th 12:00pm – 1:00pm.  Please sign up on Naviance.

Santa Monica College bound students – A presentation covering first time enrollment for all entering freshmen will be held on May 6th at 12:45pm, please sign up on Naviance.  Individual appointments are available following the presentation from 1:30 - 2:55pm. Sign up for individual appointments in the CCC.

SoCalRoc – Meet with the SoCal Roc Representative in the CCC on Mondays from 10:00am – 11:30am. Sign up in the CCC for an appointment or drop in during snack on Mondays.

AIAA Scholarship for students interested in the STEM fields.  Application is available on the MCHS website, College tab – Scholarship Opportunities page.  Submission deadline is May 7th

SENIORS

-Senior Clearance Deadline is May 15thPlease bring copies of the following to the CCC:  1. Updated Naviance college admissions results.  2. Completed senior survey.  3. Acceptance letter from the school you will be attending.

-College Map Event- Friday, May 1st during lunch.  Show us where you will be attending school in the fall.  Wear your new school gear to the Mustang Mall stage and place your sticker on the map.

-County of Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Information Session  – The Sheriff’s Department is recruiting for the position of Public Response Dispatcher.  A representative will be in the CCC on Friday, May 8th at 1:00pm to cover hiring requirements, salary, and benefits.  Please sign up on Naviance.
