STUDENT INFO

  • Last day to buy pre-sale price tickets, $10 and $15, for the spring show, Thoroughly Modern Millie, is TODAY (opening night) at lunch in the Mustang Mall. Next week, tickets will be available for $12 and $18.
  • Come to the First Annual Yearbook Photography Show in Room 60! Opens April 27 at lunch. We’ll have forms to purchase your 2015 book, chances to win photographs and to get a glimpse into the book!!!
  • SAT Savvy intensive prep course – TODAY is the last day to register at the discounted price. For more info, go to satsavvy.info or Room 18, 221 or the CCC.
  • If you are interested in traveling to Austria, Germany and Switzerland in 2016, stop by Room 15 for info and have your parents come to a meeting on Monday, 4/27 at 6:30 pm.
  • Incoming Junior’s and Senior’s finalizing classes with your counselor for next year Honors Earth Science through UCLA is the class for you! Located right here at Mira Costa room 238. It is the only Dual Credit class (High school and *College credit) @ Mira Costa. The *transcript can earn you credit to another college even if you do not go to UCLA. There is no AP exam and the 4 major fields of study are Astronomy, Oceanography, Meteorology and Geology. There is also a GPA boost. *College credit is optional and students should check on transferability with the undergraduate admissions office at the college of their choice. SPORTS

  • If you are interested in joining the Costa Colorguard, see Ms. Owen in Room 15.
  • Dance Team auditions are right around the corner! Do you have dance experience and would you like to perform and compete throughout the year? Join the award-winning Costa Dance Team. Auditions are April 28 & 30 with final audition day on May 1. Audition packets can be picked up in the main office or visit www.mchsdanceteam.com.
  • The Mira Costa hockey team beat Manhattan Beach 5-3 last Friday, with Kai Borich scoring 2 goals while Ty Dillman, Wyatt Light and Ryan Ng scored one each. Come out to the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo TONIGHT at 6:30 pm to watch the action as they take on South Torrance.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                   

  • The 28th annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walkathon is tomorrow, Saturday, April 25 from 8 am to 10 am. If you would still like to sign up, the deadline is 12 am. If you would like to donate or participate to support the cause against domestic violence, please go to richstonefamily.org.
  • Come to Pink Ribbon Club this Thursday in Room 78! We will be making care packages for breast cancer patients very soon. All new members welcome!
  • The Classic Car Club will be hosting a car show tomorrow, Saturday, April 25. The show will be taking place at the student parking lot from 11 am – 2 pm. There will be food trucks, great cars and music. Hope to see you there!!!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • Out of State College Mini Fair – May 12 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm in the MCHS cafeteria. Come meet with admission representatives from 15 to 30 out-of-state colleges! Please RSVP on Naviance.
  • College visits in the CCC University of New Mexico, TODAY at 9:00 am; United States Naval Academy, May 6 during lunch. Please sign up on Naviance.
  • SoCalRoc – Meet with the SoCal Roc Representative in the CCC on Mondays from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Sign up in the CCC for an appointment or drop in during snack on Mondays.
  • El Camino College bound students  – There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to help you with your Ed Plan and Class Registration on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:00 pm. Please sign up for your counseling appointment in the CCC. There will also be an ECC Registration Workshop in the CCC on Thursday, April 30 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm; please sign up on Naviance.
  • AIAA Scholarship for students interested in the STEM fields. Application is available on the MCHS website, College tab – Scholarship Opportunities page. Submission deadline is May 7.
  • Seniors:
    • Senior Clearance Deadline is May 15. Please bring copies of the following to the CCC: 1) updated Naviance college admissions results; 2) completed senior survey; 3) acceptance letter from the school you will be attending.
    • College Map Sticker Event – Show us where you will be attending school in the fall. Come to the CCC table on April 30, Club Day, during lunch.
