- Incoming Juniors and Seniors finalizing classes with your counselors for next year: Honors Earth Science through UCLA is the class for you! It is the only Dual Credit class (High school and College credit) at Mira Costa. The transcript will give credit to another college even if you do not go to UCLA. It will be worth 5 college credits once you enroll. Why is this honors class better than any AP class you can take at Costa?? It is the only class that allows students to earn guaranteed college credit. No AP Exam. AP classes are not guaranteed college credit, even with a score of 5. It gives Honors status and same weight on your GPA as an AP class. Four major fields of study are Astronomy, Oceanography, Meteorology and Geology. See Mr. Kurz, UCLA Instructor Honors Earth Science in Room 238 or email [email protected] for more details. Edutainer of the year 2003, 2005–2015.
