STUDENT INFO           

  • AP Students:  The final three AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:

·         Monday, April 20             7:00 p.m.        Library

·         Tuesday, April 21            7:00 p.m.        Library

·         Wednesday, April 22      3:30 p.m.        Small Theatre

Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes.  Students must attend one and need to be on time, and bring a #2 pencila nd something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.

 

  • 2015 Yearbooks are selling fast!  Price is $90 but prices will rise in May.  Seniors – make sure you have yours before it’s too late.  “I’m so glad I didn’t buy a yearbook” said no one ever.
  • The Mira Costa Digital Photography Art Show continues through Tuesday in the Room 60 Art Gallery during Lunch.
  • Don’t miss the Young Adult Author Panel and book signing in the library on Wednesday, April 22, from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with authors Robin Benway, Gretchen McNeil, and 2010 Costa graduate Emily Wibberley.  You can purchase books at the event, but consider ordering in advance from {pages} bookstore using this link: bit.ly/yapanelbooks.
  • SCHOLAR QUIZ is coming!   First round starts May 26. Signups will all take place in the Mustang Mall at lunch next week.  Seniors only on Tuesday, 4/21; Juniors & Seniors on Wednesday, 4/22; Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors on Thursday 4/23; and Freshmen (& all of the above) on Friday, 4/24.  Registration forms are available in the front office, the Library and on the website.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                
  • Incoming juniors and seniors finalizing classes with your counselor for next year: Honors Earth Science through UCLA is the class for you!! It is the only Dual Credit class (high school and college credit) at Mira Costa. The transcript will give credit to another college even if you do not go to UCLA. NO AP exam. 4 major fields of study are Astronomy, Oceanography, Meteorology and Geology.
  • “Thoroughly Modern Millie” opens next Friday, April 24 at 7:30! Pre-sale tickets are $10 for students/seniors and $15 for adults. Buy your tickets in the new Mustang Mall starting this Thursday through next Friday.
  • Do you need community service hours?  The Richstone Walk-a-Thon is Saturday, April 25th! Join Team MCHS at the Manhattan Beach Pier at 8:00 am.  Come to room 18 for more info or an envelope.
  • Honor Roll In-N-Out Lunch is Tuesday, April 21, at lunch.  Check website or auditorium windows for lists.

 

  • Istanbul and Athens 2016!  Informational meeting with Ms. Park at lunch in Room 48 on April 21!  Come see the Hagia Sophia and go on a 2-day cruise through Greece!
  • Australia, New Zealand & Fiji 2017!!! Limited spaces available.  See Mr. Geczi (room 225) or Sra. Geczi (room 72) for details.

SPORTS

  • Dance Team auditions are right around the corner! Do you have dance experience and would you like to perform and compete throughout the year? Join the award-winning Costa Dance Team. Auditions are April 28, 30 and final audition day is May 1. Audition packets can be picked up in the main office or visit www.mchsdanceteam.com.
  • Interested in being a student manager for football in fall?  The class would be for PE credit.  See Coach Morrow for more info in Room 245.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                         

  • The 28th annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walkathon is almost here!  Sign up online at Richstonefamily.org if you would like to donate or participate to support the cause against domestic violence.  For more details, stop by room 18.
  • Hey You! Want free pizza?  Bring an instrument or any type of music to room 201 (Mr. Knutson) at the top of the history building and jam with us, Ron Nation, at lunch. We have performance opportunities for all types of musicians/talent!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • College visits in the CCC - University of New Mexico, April 24 at 9:00am.

 

  • SoCalRoc – Fall class schedules are now available in the CCC.  Enrollment began April 13th.

 

  • El Camino bound students  - There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to help you with your Ed Plan and Class Registration on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:00pm.  Sign-up for your appointment in the CCC now.

 

  • Santa Monica bound students – There will be a SMC counselor available in the CCC to help you with your class registration and questions on Thursday, April 23rd.  Appointments are available 8:00am – 10:20am.  Sign-up for your appointment in the CCC now.

 

  • Testing Information

-PJ Test Prep will be offering free SAT or ACT practice tests on Saturday, April 18th 10:00am – 2:00pm…get results and free test strategy tips.  Register at www.pjtestprep.com or 209-872-2856.

 

-C2 will be offering free mock testing on April 18th and 25th at 9am and 1pm.   ACT, Current SAT, New SAT, and the PSAT tests are being offered.   Register online http://www.c2educate.com/spring-test/
