STUDENT INFO           

  • Interested in traveling to Austria, Germany, and Switzerland in 2016?  Come to an informational meeting at lunch in Room 15 on Thursday, April 16th.
  • AP Students:  AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:
    • Thursday, April 16                7:00 a.m.         Library
    • Monday, April 20                   7:00 p.m.        Library
    • Tuesday, April 21                  7:00 p.m.        Library
    • Wednesday, April 22                        3:30 p.m.        Small Theatre

Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes.  Students must attend one and need to be on time, bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.

 

  • Honor Roll In-N-Out Lunch is Tuesday, April 21, at lunch.  Check website or auditorium windows for lists.

 

  • Improve your SAT scores! Sign up for the SAT Savvy Prep Session for the June 6 test by April 24 to get a discount. 18 hours of instruction plus four practice tests. And…it is here at MCHS with actual teachers. For more info – satsavvy.info or Room 18, 331 or CCC.
  • Applications are now being accepted for the Mustang Morning News staff. Become a part of this nationally award-winning program. Complete the online application at www.mustangmorningnews.com/join-the-staff.
  • Don’t miss the Young Adult Author Panel and book signing in the library on Wednesday, April 22, featuring three great YA authors – Gretchen McNeil, Robin Benway and Mira Costa 2010 graduate, Emily Wibberley.  You can borrow the authors’ books from the library and also order copies from {pages} bookstore.  Check the library website or come by for information.
  • Also available in the library:  AP test prep books, old Mira Costa yearbooks, and pop-art projects from Ms. Mireles’s art students.
  • It’s time to design next year’s Student Planner cover! Three winning designs will be voted on by students & staff! Entries are due April 30; see website or front office for details!
  • Submit your finest works for La Vista’s Annual photo contest. Email your photos to [email protected]. Please include your name and a title for the photo. Photos must be submitted by 4/15. Winners will receive a prize.
  • Attention Students: If you are interested in running for a position in ASB student government next year, you must come to one of the three informational meetings on April 2, April 13 or April 15!

SPORTS

  • Dance Team auditions are right around the corner! Do you have dance experience and would you like to perform and compete throughout the year? Join the award-winning Costa Dance Team. Auditions are April 28, 30 and final audition day is May 1. Audition packets can be picked up in the main office or visit www.mchsdanceteam.com.

 

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                         

  • Come to Art Club Room 62 on Wednesdays for a mind-expanding time.  New members and old members always welcome.
  • The Library Club meets during lunch today in the library work room.  The club wil also be meeting in a Google Hangout Online to duscuss Ready Player One by Ernest Cline with our “Somewhat Virtual Book Club” network at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • Come to Together We Tutor on Tuesday at lunch in room 19!  We tutor students at Eucalyptus Elementary School every Friday.
  • Relay for Life Club is meeting today in room 134 at lunch!
  • The 28th annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walk-a-thon is almost here! Sign up online at richstonefamily.org if you would like to donate or participate. Participants will get community service hours. For more details, come to Room 18 every Wednesday at lunch.
  • All those who took Intro to Model UN and who wish to be in advanced MUN, please come to Mr. Timberlake’s Room 202 for information regarding tryouts. Any current freshmen wishing to take intro to MUN next year come see Mr. Timberlake as well.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • College visits in the CCC - U.S. Military Academy-WestPoint, April 15 at 9:00am., UC Riverside, April 15 at 10:23am, UC Merced, April 16 at 9:00am, University of New Mexico, April 24 at 9:00am.
  • SoCalRoc – Fall class schedules are now available in the CCC.  Enrollment begins April 13th.
  • El Camino bound students - There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to help you with your Ed Plan and Class Registration on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:00pm.  Sign-up for your appointment in the CCC now.
  • Santa Monica bound students – There will be a SMC counselor available in the CCC to help you with your class registration and questions on Thursday, April 23rd.  Appointments are available 8:00am – 10:20am.  Sign-up for your appointment in the CCC now.
