STUDENT INFO
- The Library and the Library Club are hosting a YA (Young Adult) author panel and book signing on Wednesday, April 22 from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm. Please plan to attend. Three authors – Robin Benway, Gretchen McNeil and Emily Wibberley, a 2010 Costa graduate – will talk about their books, and books will be available for purchase and signing. Want to read one of their books over the break? Come by the library to borrow a copy.
- You asked, and we responded. Some of the students who completed the Library Club’s survey asked for access to old yearbooks. Come see them on our library display shelves. Here’s your chance to find old photos of some of your teachers/Costa alums!
- It’s time to design next year’s Student Planner cover! Three winning designs will be voted on by students & staff! Entries are due April 30; see website or front office for details!
- Be sure to check out La Vista’s partnership with the Los Angeles Times on the newly renovated High School Insider website at miracostahighschool.latimes.com! If you’re interested in joining High School Insider, come talk to Jimmy Shaw or Connor Layden in period 4 La Vista.
- Submit your finest works for La Vista’s Annual photo contest. Email your photos to [email protected]. Please include your name and a title for the photo. Photos must be submitted by 4/15. Winners will receive a prize.
- Come to the gallery, Room 60, at lunch to see the GIANT tiny art show.
- Attention Students: If you are interested in running for a position in ASB student government next year, you must come to one of the three informational meetings on April 2, April 13 or April 15!
SENIORS
- If you did not pick up your graduation announcements from Jostens, they are available TODAY in the Student Store from Mrs. Cessor.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
- All those who took Intro to Model UN and who wish to be in advanced MUN, please come to Mr. Timberlake’s Room 202 for information regarding tryouts. Any current freshmen wishing to take intro to MUN next year come see Mr. Timberlake as well.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
- College visits in the CCC – Northeastern University, April 13 at 11:25 am, U.S. Military Academy-Westpoint, April 15 at 9:00 am; UC Riverside, April 15 at 10:23 am; UC Merced, April 16 at 9:00 am. Sign up on Naviance.
- SoCalRoc – Fall class schedules are now available in the CCC. Enrollment begins April 13.
- El Camino bound students – There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to help you with your Ed Plan and Class Registration on Thursdays from 12:20 – 2:00 pm. Sign-up for your appointment in the CCC now.
- Santa Monica bound students – There will be an SMC counselor available in the CCC to help you with your class registration and questions on Thursday, April 23 from 8:00 am – 10:20 am. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
- Testing Information
- Practice ACT at Mira Costa on May 9 – This session is full; a waitlist is now available in the CCC. Please see the ACT and SAT practice test options below.
- PJ Test Prep will be offering free SAT or ACT practice tests on Saturday, April 18 10:00am – 2:00pm…same day results and free test strategy tips. Register at www.pjtestprep.com or 209-872-2856.

· Summer Program Update – El Camino is offering a free STEM and robotics program this summer. The STEM Training and Robotics Technology (START) program includes a robot building experience and covers STEM career pathways. No prior technical experience required to apply. The program runs July 6 to July 30, Monday through Friday (Friday field trips), 9 am to 1 pm. The application deadline is May 25.
