- Please enter to compete in the 1st annual Mira Costa Idol singing competition! Finalists compete for $1,000 in South Bay Idol finale against other school finalists. - Reminder to all students: Do not leave backpacks or valuable belongings unattended on campus. The school staff is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.
- California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Spring Membership Drive begins Feb. 2 and will end on Feb. 13. If you have a minimum of three A’s and one B on your report card, you may be eligible to join CSF. (Sorry – PE, sports and TA are not included.) During snack and lunch, come to Room 243 in the math/science building for more information and to pick up an application.
- Come explore England, Ireland and Scotland during Spring Break 2016. Informational meeting this Thurs. Feb. 12 in Room 232 or email [email protected] for details.
- The date of the Winter Formal is Saturday, 2/28. It will be held at Los Verdes Country Club at 7 pm.
- Winter Formal tickets will be sold in the quad this week at lunch or anytime in the Student Store with Mrs. Cessor. From 2/9 to 2/13, with an ASB sticker, single ticket price is $30 or $35 without; couple tickets with sticker are $56 or $66 without.
- Submit your Winter Ball “Proposals” on Instagram with #MCWinterball2K15 in order to enter to win free tickets to the dance.
- Val-Grams are now being sold! Send a card, lollipop or flower to a special someone for only $1.
- Come check out Costa’s art gallery at lunch in Room 60 to see an impressive exhibition of still life drawings.
- Want to sax up your Valentine this Friday? Purchase a saxogram from the Sax Pack, and they’ll serenade your love. Contact Sam Kortub, Derek Zeoli, Ben Sacks or Matt Yamada to purchase one.
- Neptunian Woman’s Club Art Contest – Submittal deadline is no later than 3:00 pm on Monday, Feb. 23. Contest rules are on the entry forms and can be downloaded from www.neptunians.org.

- CSF Seniors: You still need one semester of Senior grades to become a Life Member. Don’t forget to come in and pick up an application in Room 243.

- 70% of certain plants that could potentially cure cancer are found in the rainforest. Cuipo works to protect rainforests. Come to Room 18 on Wednesdays (TODAY).
- MCHS is participating in the Teens for Jeans Campaign! In order to help our school win a $5,000 grant AND meet The Vamps, donate gently used jeans to the library, Room 22, the admin building or the La Vista room.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

- Seniors – FAFSA Workshop TODAY, Weds. February 11 at 1:30 pm and 2:15 pm in Room 241. Please sign up in the CCC and pick up FAFSA checklist.
- El Camino bound students – After you take your assessment tests, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you on Thursdays starting Feb. 12 from 12:20 – 2:00 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
- Free Practice Testing
- C2 Education Torrance will be hosting free practice tests for the New SAT, current SAT, or ACT. Monday, 2/16 at 1 pm and 5 pm; Saturday 2/21 at 9 am and 1 pm. Register online at http://www.c2educate.com/presidents-day-testing-event/ .
- SAT Savvy is offering a free practice test for the current SAT on Saturday 2/28 at 8 am to 1 pm at MCHS in Room 18. Please sign up with Ms. Vaughan in Room 18.
