STUDENT INFO           

  • Come explore England, Ireland and Scotland during Spring Break 2016. Informational meeting this Thurs. Feb. 12 in Room 232 or email [email protected] for details.
  • The date of the Winter Formal is Saturday, 2/28. It will be held at Los Verdes Country Club at 7 pm.
  • Winter Ball tickets will be sold in the quad this week at lunch or anytime in the Student Store with Mrs. Cessor.
  • Submit your Winter Ball “Proposals” on Instagram with #MCWinterball2K15 in order to enter to win free tickets to the dance.
  • Val-Grams are now being sold! Send a card, lollipop or flower to a special someone for only $1.
  • Want to sax up your Valentine this Friday? Purchase a saxogram from the Sax Pack, and they’ll serenade your love. Contact Sam Kortub, Derek Zeoli, Ben Sacks or Matt Yamada to purchase one.
  • One out of four ingredients found in our medicine is from rainforest plants. COME TO CUIPO CLUB Room 18 on Wednesdays.
  • Any student interested in being a manager for the baseball program, contact Coach Olson through the school website.
  • Come check out Costa’s art gallery at lunch in Room 60 to see an impressive exhibition of still life drawings.
  • California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Spring Membership Drive begins Feb. 2 and will end on Feb. 13. If you have a minimum of three A’s and one B on your report card, you may be eligible to join CSF. (Sorry – PE, sports and TA are not included.) During snack and lunch, come to Room 243 in the math/science building for more information and to pick up an application.
  • Faculty & Students – MCHS Spirit Wear shirts and jackets are available in the finance office (Student Store). Limited quantities. Come check it out while they last.

FACULTY

  • Please excuse boys JV and Varsity soccer players TODAY at 1:10 pm, and F/S players at 1:20 pm for away games.

SENIORS

  • CSF Seniors: You still need one semester of Senior grades to become a Life Member. Don’t forget to come in and pick up an application in Room 243.

SPORTS

  • 2015 Boys Golf Tryouts – Feb. 3, 4, 5, 10 (TODAY), 11 and 12. Tee times start at 2:30 pm each day. Students are required to complete three 9-hole rounds on any three of the six tryout days, as well as a player assessment.

 

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

  • Richstone Club meets Wednesday in Room 18.
  • Relay for Life Club meets TODAY in Room 132 at lunch for committee meetings. Come join the fight against cancer.
  • BSU will have rehearsal at snack TODAY in the auditorium lobby area, for the assembly this week.
  • Submit your short stories, drawings, poems and pictures to [email protected] for a chance to be featured in our annual magazine! Join us Mondays (TODAY) in Room 18!
  • Interested in modeling for Mira costa’s 2015 Fashion Show? Come to Room 131 on Friday for auditions. Just bring yourself! Boys are welcome!
  • 70% of certain plants that could potentially cure cancer are found in the rainforest. Cuipo works to protect rainforests. Come to Room 18 on Wednesdays.
  • MCHS is participating in the Teens for Jeans Campaign! In order to help our school win a $5,000 grant AND meet The Vamps, donate gently used jeans to the library, Room 22, the admin building or the La Vista room.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • College visits in the CCC: Colorado Mesa University, Feb. 12 at 10:23 am; Nova Southeastern University, Feb. 23 at 1:00 pm. Please sign up on Naviance.
  • Seniors - FAFSA Workshop on Weds February 11th at 1:30 pm and 2:15 pm in Room 241. Please sign up in the CCC.
  • El Camino bound students – After you have taken your assessment tests, your next step towards priority registration is to meet with an ECC Counselor. There will be an ECC Counselor available in the CCC to meet with you on Thursdays starting Feb. 12 from 12:20 – 2:00 pm. Sign up for your appointment in the CCC now.
  • New Scholarship Opportunities:
    • Sandpipers College/University Scholarship, criteria includes minimum 3.0 gpa, financial need, community service activity, live in one of the designated South Bay communities of Southern California.  Please see the MCHS website, CCC info., Scholarship Opportunities for more details and an application or stop by the CCC.
    • Seniors who are currently enrolled in a course through So Cal ROC may be eligible for a scholarship. Applications are available in the CCC.
  • Volunteer/Internship Opportunities: 
    • Community Helpline, a confidential listening, crisis and referral hotline needs volunteers (teens & adults) to provide support to people in need or crisis. For more information or to apply, email [email protected] or call 310-793-1415.
