STUDENT INFO           

  • Any student interested in being a manager for the baseball program, contact Coach Olson through the school website.
  • Improve your SAT scores & sign up for the first SAT Savvy session. It starts this Saturday in Room 18. Come join us. For more info go to satsavvy.info or Room 18, 331, or the CCC.
  • Any students who have an “excused 1st, 5th or 6th period” or surf team on their schedules need to come to the Guidance Office TODAY to get a green Off-Grounds sticker placed on their student ID cards. Off-Grounds stickers will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch, or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off-Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.
  • Come check out Costa’s art gallery at lunch in Room 60 to see an impressive exhibition of still life drawings.
  • California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Spring Membership Drive begins Feb. 2 and will end on Feb. 13. If you have a minimum of three A’s and one B on your report card, you may be eligible to join CSF. (Sorry – PE, sports and TA are not included.) During snack and lunch, come to Room 243 in the math/science building for more information and to pick up an application.
  • The date of the Winter Formal has changed and is now Saturday, 2/28. It will be held at Los Verdes Country Club at 7 pm.
  • Come to the New Quad starting Mon., Feb. 2, to buy Winter Formal tickets! From 1/29 to 2/6, tickets are $46 for a couple with ASB sticker, $56 without; single with ASB sticker is $25 and $30 without. From 2/9 to 2/13, single with ASB sticker is $30 or $35 without; couple with sticker is $56 or $66 without.
  • AP Students: Did you miss registering for the AP exams? There will be late registration today at lunch only at the student store. An additional fee of $15 for each exam will be charged.

 

SENIORS

  • Seniors – please log into the MCHS website to view the second semester senior calendar. Important reminder dates are listed.
  • CSF Seniors: You still need one semester of Senior grades to become a Life Member. Don’t forget to come in and pick up an application in Room 243.

SPORTS

  • TONIGHT is Senior Night for Boys Soccer. Come to the stadium at 5:45 pm to cheer on these seniors as we take on Inglewood. There will be an El Gringo food truck arriving at 6:30 pm.
  • 2015 Boys Golf Tryouts – Feb. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12. Tee times start at 2:30 pm each day. Students are required to complete three 9-hole rounds on any three of the six tryout days, as well as a player assessment.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS

  • Come to Room 232 for Education 4 All Club. Everyone is welcome!
  • Did you know? Badminton is the fastest sport in the world. The fastest badminton smash was recorded at 332 km/h (206 MPH). Join the Badminton Club every Friday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 234.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • College visits in the CCC: Hobart and William Smith College, Feb. 9 at 11:00 am; Colorado Mesa University, Feb. 12 at 10:23 am; Nova Southeastern University, Feb. 23 at 1:00 pm. Please sign up on Naviance.
  • Seniors - FAFSA Workshop on February 11th at 1:30 pm and 2:15 pm in Room 241. Please sign up in the CCC.
  • New Scholarship Opportunities:
    • Sandpipers College/University Scholarship, criteria includes minimum 3.0 gpa, financial need, community service activity, live in one of the designated South Bay communities of Southern California.  Please see the MCHS website, CCC info., Scholarship Opportunities for more details and an application or stop by the CCC.
    • Seniors who are currently enrolled in a course through So Cal ROC may be eligible for a scholarship. Applications are available in the CCC.
  • Volunteer/Internship Opportunities: 
    • Community Helpline, a confidential listening, crisis and referral hotline needs volunteers (teens & adults) to provide support to people in need or crisis. For more information or to apply, email [email protected] or call 310-793-1415.
