STUDENT INFO
- Starting TODAY, Feb. 3, any students who have an “excused 1st, 5th or 6th period” or surf team on their schedules need to come to the Guidance Office to get a green Off-Grounds sticker placed on their student ID cards. Off-Grounds stickers will be issued before school, at snack, at lunch, or after school only. Please do not come during class time. If you are stopped by the police without the Off-Grounds sticker on your ID card, you may be subject to a truancy citation.
- Come check out Costa’s art gallery at lunch in Room 60 to see an impressive exhibition of still life drawings.
- California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Spring Membership Drive begins Feb. 2 and will end on Feb. 13. If you have a minimum of three A’s and one B on your report card, you may be eligible to join CSF. (Sorry – PE, sports and TA are not included.) During snack and lunch, come to Room 243 in the math/science building for more information and to pick up an application.
- MCHS is participating in the Teens for Jeans campaign! In order to help our school win a $5,000 grant AND meet The Vamps, donate gently used jeans to the library, Room 22, the admin building, or the La Vista room.
- For those who are signed up for the Italy Spring Break Trip, please come to a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at lunch in Room 223, Ms. Choi’s room.
- Come to the New Quad Mon., Feb. 2, to buy Formal tickets! From 1/29 to 2/6, tickets are $46 for a couple with ASB sticker, $56 without; single with ASB sticker is $25 and $30 without. From 2/9 to 2/13, single with ASB sticker is $30 or $35 without; couple with sticker is $56 or $66 without.
- National Letter of Intent signing day is Wed., Feb. 4. Please contact Mr. John Shaw at [email protected] and provide your bio if you will be signing a letter of intent. Also, athletes who are committed to play a sport in college next year, please send bio and note that you are not signing but are playing for a school. We will acknowledge all athletes who will be participating in sports at the next level.
- JAPAN 2016 meeting on Thursday, Feb. 5 in Room 72 at lunch. Domo arigato.
- Hockey meeting: There will be a meeting for hockey players next Thursday, Feb. 5, at lunch in Room 139.
- AP Students: Did you miss registering for the AP exams? There will be late registration today at lunch only at the student store. An additional fee of $15 for each exam will be charged.
SENIORS
- Seniors – please log into the MCHS website to view the second semester senior calendar. Important reminder dates are listed.
- Scholarship Opportunity – Seniors who are currently enrolled in a course through So Cal ROC may be eligible for a scholarship. Applications are available in the CCC.
- CSF Seniors: You still need one semester of Senior grades to become a Life Member. Don’t forget to come in and pick up an application in Room 243.
SPORTS
- 2015 Boys Golf Tryouts – Feb. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12. Tee times start at 2:30 pm each day. Students are required to complete three 9-hole rounds on any three of the six tryout days, as well as a player assessment.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
- Come to Pink Ribbon Club in Room 78 this Thursday during lunch. We are having a bake sale this month to raise money for care packages for breast cancer patients. See you there!
- Come to Together We Tutor TODAY at lunch in Room 19!
- The Library Club meets in the library lunch room during lunch TODAY (Tuesday). The club also meets after school this Wednesday for a Google Hangout discussion of Chris Crutcher’s Deadline. We will be connecting with other library clubs from around the country. Everyone is welcome, even if you are not a club member.
- Stop by the Art Room 62 at lunch on Wednesdays for the Art Club! All welcome always.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
