STUDENT INFO           

  • For those signed up and/or interested in the Italy trip, we are having a meeting this Friday, Dec. 5, in Room 203 (Ms. Choi’s room). There are many updates to go over – please attend!!
  • Attention Students and Staff: The Lip Sync has been rescheduled. Dress rehearsal will be Tuesday, Jan. 6 after school. The show will be Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7:00 p.m.
  • SAT Savvy Intensive prep program – Improve your SAT scores with 18 hours of instruction and practice tests. For more info come to Room 18, 331, CCC or visit satsavvy.info.
  • Dodgeball tournament sign-ups are this Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, December 3rd – 5th. Dodgeball tournament starts following week, Dec. 8. Sign-ups are $10 per team and will be in the new quad at lunch.
  • Interested in going to Switzerland? See Ms. Owen in Room 15 for more info.
  • The last day to sign up for this year’s spring break trip to Eastern Europe is Dec. 15. If you are interested, please see Ms. Owen in Room 15.
  • Attention poetry lovers: Costa will be holding its fourth annual Poetry Out Loud competition Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015! Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation contest in which students memorize and recite two famous poems from the Poetry Out Loud online anthology. Check out the poem anthology by visiting poetryoutloud.org. The winner of the competition will go on to compete  at the county level in February. If you are interested in competing, see your English teacher or     Ms. Sieker for more information and an application. Applications are due to Ms. Sieker in          Room 44 by Friday, Dec. 19.

FACULTY

  • Please excuse all boys soccer players at 1:10 for away games. They’ve been told how important it is to keep up with their work!
  • Dear Teachers & Staff: The Operation Happiness forms were placed in your mailboxes. Please return them to Mrs. Claypoole by Friday, Dec. 5, at 3:00 pm. Thank you and we hope to spread lots of holiday cheer.

SENIORS

  • All senior ads are due this Friday, Dec. 5! Forms are in the office or in Ms. Park’s room (Rm. 48), or on our website, www.mchshoofprints.weebly.com. Turn your ad in to Ms. Park’s box in the office or to her classroom! Get yours before time runs out!

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS  

  • Come to the Creative Writing Club every Thursday (TODAY) at lunch in Ms. Vaughan’s Rm. 18!
  • Come to Ms. Cabrera’s Rm. 53 to help support the California Cerebral Palsy Care Club!  We’ll have cookies! Our first meeting is this Friday 12/5 at lunch.
  • Come to Mock Trial Thursday (TODAY). We will be discussing the legal components of the Yik Yak threats.
  • Now announcing the first annual Tribe Club Benefit. For more information and tickets, come to Tribe Club TODAY in Room 205.
  • The Samburu Tribe Club will be meeting in Room 205 on Thursday (TODAY) to discuss the benefit. Snacks will be provided.
  • The Geeks meet in the library lunchroom TODAY during lunch.
  • Come to Lend a Hand Club in Room 72 at lunch every Friday to help support the homeless people living in Los Angeles! As the weather is getting colder, we are asking for warm clothes like jackets, blankets, or jeans. If you have anything to donate, drop it off in Room 72!
  • Come to Chess Club TODAY, Thursday, in Room 14, Mr. Brown’s class.
  • Game Club meets this Friday after school in Rm. 40. We’re playing Dungeons and Dragons; all are welcome!
  • Come and watch the Mira Costa Dance Company proudly present their dance show “Dance the Night Away,” Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 pm in the Auditorium. Tickets are $5 presale and $8 at the door.
  • Come join the Asian Culture Club at lunch every Friday in Room 53.
  • Attention Students: Club Council for December is next Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at lunch in Room 40. All clubs should send one representative.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

·        Reminder: Friday, Dec. 5 deadline to submit letters of Recommendation and Transcript requests for Regular Decision and Rolling Admission Applications with deadlines after January 15.

·        FREE MOCK SAT on the Mira Costa Campus, Sat. Dec. 6, 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. Administered by Princeton Review. Register online by Dec. 4 at: www.princetonreview.com.
