  • This is a reminder that the PTSA Reflections Art Contest submissions are due no later than Monday, Nov. 17. Please turn in submissions to the Admin Office and give to Ms. Gardner or Mrs. Hoffman. Extra entry forms and instructions are available in the Admin Office.
  • Last chance to sign up for Lip Sync! November 5th, 6th and 7th at the dance team table located in the New Quad. Don’t miss your chance to win!
  • Mandatory Meeting for Spain Trip 2015 this Wednesday, tomorrow, at lunch in Room 70! Gracias!
  • Attention Students! Signups for the blood drive on Nov. 20 will be taking place this week. Please sign up with an ASB member, in ASB, or with Ms. Claypoole.
  • Student Print Job Request:
    • Print Job Requests: If you are requesting a print job, please email document in PDF format and send file as an attachment to [email protected]. Please put your name in the subject line. You may pick up your printed job in Room 42 before school, at snack, or lunch only and not during class times. Printing is 10 cents per side. The only print jobs that will be accepted will be those that are received via email.
  • Tickets for Thornton Wilder’s “The Matchmaker” performed by the Mira Costa Drama Department will be on sale this week in the quad at lunch, so bring money! Performance dates are as follows: Nov. 7, 8, 14 & 15 at 7:30 pm; Nov. 12 at 4 pm and Nov. 15 at 2 pm. Pre-sale tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, with a $5 price for students on the 12th. See you there!

SPORTS

  • Boys’ Basketball tryouts will be Nov. 12 from 7 – 9 at Mira Costa. If you are a senior interested in trying out, please contact Coach Amaral directly at [email protected].
  • Last chance to try out for boys soccer. If you are interested, you m ust meet Coach Smith in his classroom at 3:00 this Friday, Nov. 7 to discuss the situation. Try outs will be the following week.

CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS  

  • Give Back to the Children Club meets Thursday in room 332 in the Math and Science building. Come to learn how you can give back to the children of Africa.
  • Come to room 14 at lunch on Friday for the first ever Heifer International Club! Be there or be square! J
  • BSU has rehearsal for Lip Sync, Wednesday (TODAY) at lunch in room 48. Regular club meeting on Thursday at lunch, Rm. 48.
  • Science Olympiad meets this Wednesday (TODAY) at lunch in Room 350.
  • Announcement: Come to Stand-Up comedy club Thursdays, Room 1, at lunch. All senses of humor welcomed.
  • Come to Room 1 for Drama Club and a good old time! See y’all there.
  • Come one, come all! Gay-Straight Alliance (and everyone in between!) meets Thursdays, Mr. Zeoli’s room, Rm. 23. Everyone is welcome!
  • Reflections meets every Monday in Ms. Vaughan’s room, Room 18. We are collecting submissions for the literary magazine at the end of the year! Email your poems, artwork, pictures, and short stories to [email protected].

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER

  • Information about local college events and auditions is now available on the MCHS website. Click on college – Events and Auditions. We are updating this page as we receive information, so check it often.

 

  • Sign up on Naviance for this week’s college visits: University of St. Andrews, UT-Austin, LSU-Louisiana State University, Washington State University, Lynn University

 

  • UC Application and Statement Workshop – hosted by a UC representative will be held on Wed., Nov. 12 at 2:10 pm in the CCC.

 

  • Walk-in Wednesdays continue through Nov. 19. College application support is available every Wednesday in Room 241 during lunchtime.

Personal Statement Stress? The College and Career Center Counselors are here to help. Drop off your personal statement in the CCC through Monday, Nov. 17.
