STUDENT INFO
• The next 2 Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be block schedule to accommodate state testing for the juniors. All students will be on the block schedule these four days, including seniors. On Tuesdays (4/22 & 29), you’ll attend periods 1, 3 & 5; on Wednesdays (4/23 & 30) you’ll attend periods 2, 4 & 6 (zero period meets all 4 days). See website for bell schedules.
• AP Students: The final three AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:
o Monday, April 21, 7 p.m. Cafeteria
o Tuesday, April 22, 7 p.m. Library
o Wednesday, April 23, 3:30 p.m. Library
Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one and need to be on time, and bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.
• The 27th annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walkathon is Saturday, April 26, 2014 at The Manhattan Beach Pier. We are Team MCHS & you can register at www.richstonefamily.org. All proceeds benefit the center’s child abuse & treatment prevention programs.
• Are you taking AP tests? Come to the library to borrow an AP test prep book.
• Attention Juniors, Sophomores & Freshmen;
All students who are interested in running for a position in ASB Student Government for the 2014-2015 school year. Any student interested in any position MUST ATTEND ONE of the following meetings. The meetings will be at LUNCH in Room #41 Monday April 21st & Tuesday, April 22nd.
• Just a few spots left for the Eastern Europe trip! See Ms. Owen in Rm. 15 to get one!
• SAT savvy – last SAT prep class of the school year. Sign up for this intensive prep program & improve your SAT scores. 18 hrs. of instruction, 4 practice tests, and taught by actual teachers. For more info; www.satsavvy.info or Rm. 18, 331 or CCC.
• Did you miss signing the Declaration in “Support of Libraries” earlier this year? You have a second chance! Come to the library to sign the Declaration today. Check the library blog for more information.
• Applications are now being accepted for The Mustang Morning News staff. Join our nationally award-winning Broadcast class. Detail, visit www.mustangmorningnews.com or see Mr. Hernandez in Room 108.
• SoCalROC (SCROC) Fall Applications in Counselor’s Office and Career Center. Make an appointment with Pat Morrow in Career Center.
• Tickets for Peter Pan are on sale at lunch in front of the auditorium TODAY through Friday, April 25th. Pre-sale prices are $10 for students and senior and $15 for Adults. $12 and $18 at the door.
• The next In-N-Out Honor Roll Recognition Event will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd and all eligible students must bring their current Mira Costa I.D.s to the school auditorium to participate. This event is for students who earned a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher at Mira Costa last semester. The In-N-Out burgers will be served during the regular lunch period, and grilled cheese sandwiches will also be available. In addition, a complimentary lunch will be served to all teachers and staff members, beginning at 12:00 noon. Check the Honor Roll posted on the website if you’re not sure you qualified.
• Which Costa teacher do you want to see shave their head? This week Mr. Debevec, Kurz, and Kelley are participating in a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. There will be collection bags in the Math and Science classroom’s this week with each of the three teacher’s names on them. The teacher who has raised the most money by next Friday will have to shave their head! Vote for these teachers and join the fight against cancer!
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
SENIORS
• If you applied to speak at graduation or senior recognition, see Ms. Owen in Rm. 15 to set up your audition time for April 24.
SPORTS
• MCHS Dance Team auditions are here!!! Auditions will be next week Wednesday April 23rd, Thursday 24th and final auditions Friday 25th. If you have dance experience and would love to perform at football, basketball, local events and compete with national champions, this is the team for you!!! Dance Team packets are available for pick up in the main office!
• Boys’ Tennis: Please excuse the Boys Varsity Tennis Team at 1:25 TODAY for an away match at Palos Verdes. Sorry for the inconvenience.
