• Don’t forget to get your Mid-Way application to Ms. Hofreiter. Applications are due this Friday. Get creative.
• You are cordially invited to attend Mira Costa’s third annual Poetry Out Loud competition @ 7pm in the library on Friday, January 17th. While the judges are tabulating, there will be a community open- mic. Audience members are welcome to read original poems – if you are a poet, please come share your poetic genius! We hope you can make it out for this amazing night of poetry, and don’t forget- Admission is FREE!
• If you are interested in going to Berlin, Prague, Krakow and Budapest for Spring Break 2015, see Ms. Owen in Rm. 15 for more info.
• Mandatory Poetry Out Loud contestant meeting in Ms. Sieker’s new classroom, Rm. 44 at lunch on Thursday, January 9th!
• Cast and Crew Packets are available for the Spring Production of “Peter Pan” in Rm. 122/123 and packets due Friday.
• Attention all artists and photographers, The Neptunian Woman’s Club is holding its 36th Student Art & Photography Contest in March. Deadline for submission is Monday, February 24, 2014. Entry forms with contest rules can be obtained from your art/media/photo teacher, Mr. McAvin, or in the admin building – guidance office.
• SAT Savvy starts Feb. 1st.! Sign up for this Intensive SAT Prep program at MCHS. 18 hours of instruction, 4 practice tests& taught by actual teachers. For more info go to www.satsavvy.info or Rm. 18 or Rm. 331, or the CCC.
• Winter Formal will be on February 7th. Tickets will be on sale next week. More information to come.
• Italy trip 2015! If you’re interested in visiting Rome, Venice, and Florence during Spring Break 2015, come to the informational meeting this Friday at lunch in Ms. Choi’s room, Rm. 223.
• Hermosa Valley School is looking for Cabin Leaders for the 6th Grade Outdoor Science School in Malibu. Outdoor School will take place from Monday, March 10 to Friday March 14. It may be possible to earn Community Service credits. Applicant deadline is Friday, January 31, so that we can have crew+ alternatives in place by then. CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Club day is January 9th! Come to the new quad and support your favorite club.
• Latino Scholars Union in front of Calderon’s room at lunch TODAY.
• Come to The Creative Writing Club every Friday outside of Rm. 18, Ms. Vaughan’s room at lunch.
SENIORS
• Remember! Last deadline for Senior Ads for the Yearbook is Friday, Jan. 10th, pick up a form or turn them in to the office or Rm. 49! Thanks!
SPORTS
• Monday 1/13 through Wednesday 1/15 will be tryouts for the Baseball team. All Freshman and any other player not currently in Baseball PE are encouraged to come out after school on these days to the baseball field. Any questions contact Coach Olson.
• Boys’ Volleyball – There will be a tryout for Soph-Frosh and J.V. Volleyball TODAY at 5:00 in Fisher Gym.
• Badminton Team tryouts for both girls and boys teams will be held on Tuesday, January 14th and Wednesday, January 15th, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club at 516 – 18th Street in Manhattan Beach. For more information contact Dr. Wilson at [email protected]
