STUDENT INFO
• Important Reminder – All students need to turn in your schedules for next year. Please be sure to check all Prerequisites for each class. If you have questions, see your counselor ASAP.
• AP Students: The final 3 AP Exam pre-identification sessions are scheduled as follows:
o TODAY 7:00pm Small Gym
o Tuesday, April 23, 7:30pm Small Gym
o Wednesday, April 24, 3:30pm Small Gym
Each meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students must attend one and need to be on time, and bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, etc.) on which to write.
• IN-N-OUT HONOR ROLL RECOGNITION LUNCH – In-N-Out will be returning to Mira Costa on Tuesday, April 23rd to serve complimentary lunches to all students who earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher at Mira Costa last semester. All eligible students must bring their current Mira Costa I.D. to the school auditorium check-in area during the regular lunch period (12:21-12:51) in order to participate. Please check the MCHS Website or on the lists up in the cafeteria to see if you are on the list – the offices will be closed during the in/out lunch. If you are not on the list but feel you should be, please see your advisor before April 22nd.
• Do you need to hone your reading and writing skills? Sign up for the Summer School Class: A study of Selected Literature. This course is designed to guide you through the summer reading and prepare you for the 1st week of school! Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-10:30am.
• The Mira Costa Cheerleading Tryouts are coming up! If you are interested in trying out for the team, please pick up an informational packet with all the important dates from the front office. The cheer team is under the new leadership of Head Coach, Monica Bloodgood. All dancers, gymnasts, cheerleaders, performers and athletes are welcome to tryout. Hope to see you all there!
• Tickets for Anything Goes are on sale in the quad at lunch for $12 students/seniors, and $15 for adults!
• SAT Savvy signs up now! 18 hours of instruction, 4 practice tests, and taught by actual teachers at Mira Costa. For more info go to satsavvy.info or Room 18, 50, CCC.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Come to Ms. Seiker’s Room 34 TODAY at lunch to hear a guide dog user talk about his experiences with his guide dog and vision impairment. All are welcome!
• Attention all Relay for Life team captains! There will be a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd, to discuss team development and making sure your team’s ready for the event!
• Come to Together We Tutor Club every Tuesday in Room 19! Get community service hours by tutoring at an elementary school in Hawthorne. All new members welcome!
• Come to Cuipo Club on Wednesday in Room 18 to help save the rainforest. Tropical rainforests use to cover 12% of the Earth’s land surface. Today less than 7% of Earth’s land is covered with these forests.

SENIORS

SPORTS
• The Mira Costa JV hockey team beat El Segundo 9-0. Carlos Sanchez had a hat trick (3 goals), Mark Peterson and Adam Bedford both had 2 goals each, while Oliver Gable and Jake Gordon had one a piece. Kai Karman had the shut-out.
A magnificent coaching job by Mr. Oystrick lead the JV hockey team to beat South Torrance 18-0. Oliver Gable and Carlos Sanchez had 4 goals each, Nick Ettley and Quinn McCauley had 3 goals each, Mark Peterson had 2 goals, while Scott Henry and Jake Gordon had one each. Ryan Fawlkes had the shut-out.
• The Mira Costa varsity hockey team came from behind to beat el Segundo 4-3. Ryan Miller had 2 goals. Wyatt Light and Kory Medieros had a goal each. Come out to cheer on your school at the Toyota Sports Center TODAY, April 22 at 6:30pm as they take on Palos Verdes.
