STUDENT INFO
• AP Students: The first AP Exam pre-identification session is Thursday, April 18th, at 7:00am in the Small Gym. The meeting will last approximately 40 minutes. Students need to be on time, and bring a #2 pencil and something (a clipboard, book, etc.) on which to write.
• April is National Poetry Month, an opportunity to read and share poetry. Join the fun of sharing with Poem in Pocket. Find a poem you love and keep a copy with you to share it with teachers, friends, and classmates. Share your poem at the library any time this month and you will be entered in a drawing to win a bookstore gift certificate and be featured in a library READ poster. Come by with your poem today! Don’t have a poem? Ask at the library for help finding one!
• We will be holding our first parent meeting on Wednesday, April 24th, for the Cuzco Trip in spring of 2014. Please RSVP by 22nd of April so that we might accommodate all those in attendance. Remember, it’s always fun to travel with a friend so ask one to partake in this amazing experience. Be a good-will ambassador and touch the life of a child high in the Andes Mountains. Earn a required 20-30 community service hours and build a priceless memory.
• The spring production Anything Goes opens next Friday, April 19th at 7:30 and plays April 20th at 7:30, Wednesday April 24th, special performance at 3:30, Thursday & Friday, April 25th & 26th at 7:30 and Saturday, April 27th at 2:00 and 7:30. Pre-sale tickets are $10 for students, $12 for adults. Pre-sale tickets are available this Friday at lunch in the quad.
• Attention photographers! La Vista’s Annual Photo Contest is back! Please submit your photos with your name, grade, and number on the back, in the drop box in the La Vista Room (6) by Friday 4/19.
• Internship opportunity with Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi. Intern will provide support to staff and assembly man. More info is available in the CCC.
• Dance team tryouts are TODAY in the small gym from 4-7. Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory clinic sessions and Friday is the Final Tryout.
• Japan 2014 meeting on Friday at lunch in Room 47. Arigato!
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• To take a stand against anti-LGBT bullying, participate in the National Day of Silence this Friday, April 19th. Be sure to notify your teachers in advance. Come to GSA Club for more info.
• Do you love science, technology, engineering, and/or math? Come by Room 75 TODAY at lunch to join GALS Club.
• Come to Too Many Bunnies Club in Room 17 TODAY at lunch. The bunnies are here and we will be discussing about nominations.
• Come write with the Creative Writing Club every Friday at lunch in Room 18, Ms. Vaughan’s room.

SPORTS
• The Costa Varsity and JV hockey teams go up against El Segundo TODAY, April 17th at the Toyota Sports Center. The JV game is at 5:15pm while Varsity plays at 6:30pm. Come out and cheer on Mira Costa hockey.
• Costa’s JV hockey team beat La Canada 19-0 last week. Adam Bedford had 2 goals and a whooping 6 assists. Oliver Gable had 4 goals, Carlos Sanchez and Nick Ettley had 3 goals each, Kai Borich and Jacob Gordon had 2 goals each, while Chris Mohr, Robert Davis, and Ryan Wendel had one a piece. Kai Karpman had the shutout.
• Tryouts for Girls Volleyball will be May 9th and May 10th from 3-5pm at the MBMS Gym.
