STUDENT INFO
• If you are a Junior or a Senior next school year, come by Room 120 on Tuesday 3/12 at lunch for a brief meeting about participating and being a leader in this year's Freshman Orientation. If you went to the last meeting, you do not need to come to this one. Bring friends who are also, SPIRITED, ENERGETIC, and FRIENDLY! See Ms. Owen or Ms. Park for more details!
• Reminder: If you are sick, you need to be checked out thru the health office first. If your parents come to pick you up because you are sick, they will be directed to the health office.
• CAHSEE testing will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday, 3/12 & 3/13 at 8:00 a.m. for ALL sophomores.
9th, 11th & 12th grades will come to school on those days immediately following CAHSEE testing and all grades will attend school based on the bell schedules on our website (note that they’re different each day due to the difference in test lengths).
• Please release the boys and girls track team at 1:10pm. They will be competing at North. Thank you.
• Only 2 days left? Tuesday, March 12th is the last day to turn in artwork for the student art show. All students are encouraged to participate. Entries can be any medium (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, etc.) See Ms. Martin in Room 102 for more info and official entry form.
• All sophomores will be taking the CAHSEE on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 12 and 13. Students who do not take and pass these exams cannot receive their high school diploma so it is important that sophomores arrive promptly to their homeroom class by 8:00am on these days, well fed and rested. On March 12th, all students (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th) will report to 1st period at 10:48am (no zero period); on March 13th, all students report to 1st at 10:00am (no zero period).
• Sophomores: Please come to the Administration building to check your homeroom for CAHSEE testing. Homeroom rosters are posted on the windows.
• Parent meeting for more info on Tuesday, March 12th at 6:00pm in Room 48. If you want to go to Spain, Portugal 2014 during Ski Week, please tell your parents to come!
• Comedy Sportz Match TODAY! 7:00 pm in Room 1!
• Do you need community service hours? Grand View still needs volunteers to help with their Science Expo on Wednesday, March 13th! Volunteer slots are available from 1:30-7:30. CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Attention: All club presidents, if you missed Feb Club council, you must have at least 2 volunteers to participate in Pride Day, March 16th. You can pick up forms in Mrs. Claypoole’s Room 43. Forms are due by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 13th.
• Come to the Sign Language Club Wednesday in Room 102 and TODAY in Room 125.
SENIORS
• Seniors Submitting Scholarship Notebooks:
The master list of scholarships is available in the CCC. Please come into the CCC by March 14th to nominate yourself by adding your name in the scholarship folder for each scholarship. This takes some time, so plan accordingly.
• Applications for Senior Recognition/Graduation Performance are now available with Ms. Owen in Room 15 and/or in the Guidance Office.
SPORTS
• The boys Lacrosse team kicks off its season with a home opener tonight at Waller Stadium against Peninsula. JV game time @ 5pm, Varsity @ 7pm. Come out and support your Mustangs as they beat Penn!!
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Mini College Fair during lunch in the walkway behind the library Tues., March 12th. Stop by to talk with regional admission representatives from many out-of-state colleges and universities.
• Representatives from Leadership Manhattan Beach will be giving a presentation TODAY, March 8th during lunch in the CCC. This program is a great community service activity for sophomores and juniors. Feel free to bring your lunch and learn more about this terrific leadership program.
