• Attention next years Juniors and Seniors! If you are interested in participating in Freshman Orientation and leading a group, please come to a brief meeting in room 120 at lunch TODAY, 3/5.
• Celebrate Read Across America and World Read Aloud Day at the Mira Costa Library. Come by the library TODAY, March 5 - 6 to have your photo taken with your favorite book. Your photo will be posted to our Flickr webpage, and you will earn a chance to win a bookstore gift certificate and be featured in a READ poster. Both students and staff are invited to participate.
• CSF Spring Membership Drive: Packets and eligibility list are available in room 76. Last day to turn in packets is March 15th. Seniors: You need this semester to qualify for Life Membership.
• The Library Club is having a discussion of Chris Crutcher’s Deadline online with other library clubs across the country at 3 PM Wednesday and we are hoping that Chris Crutcher will be joining us. Anyone who has read his books is welcome to attend.
• Only 1 week left! Tuesday, March 12th is the last day to turn in artwork for the student art show. All students are encouraged to participate. Entries can be any medium (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, etc0. See Ms. Martin in Room 102 for more info and official entry form.
• Sophomores: Please come to the Administration building to check your homeroom for CAHSEE testing. CAHSEE testing is Tuesday, March 12th and Wednesday, March 13th at 8:00am. Homeroom rosters are posted on the windows.
CLUBS/ORGANIZATIONS
• Do you have any old sports gear like AYSO or MBYB jerseys? Bring your old jerseys, shorts, and cleats to Room 46 to help support Kleats for Kids Club! Give less fortunate children the gifts of sport!
• Cuipo Club meets on Wednesdays at lunch. Come help save the rainforest and join us for MCHS Pride Day on March 16th.
• The Library Club meets in the library workroom during lunch TODAY.
• Do you love animals? Do you want tips and tricks for maintaining a meat free diet? Come to Animal Rights Club in Room 46 TODAY and every Tuesday. New members always welcome!
• Come to Together We Tutor Club TODAY in Room 19. Get community service hours by tutoring 5th graders in Hawthorne. All new members welcome!
• Come make a difference at Friendship Circle Club TODAY in Room 114.
• Come to Relay for Life Club TODAY and every Tuesday at lunch in Room 45 to join the fight against cancer.
• Join Jewish Culture Club TODAY in Room 200 as we learn about Israeli culture and food.
• Brementown meeting TODAY in Room RG 16. Don’t be late and please come!
SENIORS
• Seniors Submitting Scholarship Notebooks:
The master list of scholarships is available in the CCC. Please come into the CCC by March 14th to nominate yourself by adding your name in the scholarship folder for each scholarship. This takes some time, so plan accordingly.
SPORTS
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
• Mini College Fair during lunch in the walkway behind the library Tues., March 12th. Stop by to talk with regional admission representatives from many out-of-state colleges and universities.
• Representatives from Leadership Manhattan Beach will be giving a presentation Friday, March 8th during lunch in the CCC. This program is a great community service activity for sophomores and juniors. Feel free to bring your lunch and learn more about this terrific leadership program.
• 10th, 11th, and 12th grade registration for SoCalROC’s 5 credit quarter classes in business and construction start April 8th. Get applications in counselor office and CCC. Sign up to see Pat Morrow in the CCC.
